Everyday we get to tip articles for free and we get to choose how much(%) we want to tip them.
But I was curious how tipping actually works, what is the actual difference between 80% tip and 20% tip so I have done some experiments.
How much do we get to tip everyday?🤔
It seems like we receive about $0.10 a day for tipping and you get to decide if you want to keep $0.08 or $0.02. (or none if you tip 100%)
Well, this doesn't sound too exciting... once you saw the numbers.
It gets even scarier if you visualize this. Would you pick up pennies if you see 10 pennies on the street?
If you pick them up, would you pick up 8 pennies? 2 pennies? no pennies? or all of them?

If I see them on the floor, I wouldn't even thinking about them.
Yet..., what happens when you see this? 😂

100%!!! 80%🤩🤩 20%🤩 0%...😩
Oh.Em.Gee!!! What is wrong with me. It gets very exciting all of a sudden 🤣🤣🤣
You get to keep 80% or 20%, which would you pick? This becomes a hard question to answer... interesting!
What happens when you tip? 🤔
This is what happened 👇 (I have done this couple times and I have got more less the same results.)

Interesting thing is that the first tip is always the biggest amount and it decreases gradually...
Time matters? 🤔
I thought maybe it had something to do with "time" because once you are done tipping you have to wait 24 hours or something and it saves up tipping amount and then the next day, 1st tip gets the biggest!
So instead of tipping back to back, wait longer between tippings, so you would get to tip bigger and keep more? 🤔
No 😂😂😂 because your daily budget is $0.10. You can tip as fast as you want (or slow) and you will always spend the same amount for tipping.
(i am not sure why the first tip is the biggest but all tippings are not treated equally.)
So that is the difference between "20% to author / 80% to me" and "80% to author / 20% to me" amount wise...
Tipping on high earning post vs low earning post? 🤔Â
Or older post vs newer post?
$0.10 budget doesn't seem to care about those things.Â
"20% to author / 80% to me" is always the best option if you want more tipping money? 🤔
Maybe... maybe not 😉Â
I think it depends on what coins you want.
If I do "20% to author / 80% to me", I tend to receive more loop coins -> BAT: 0.0363, LRC: 2.2343
On the other hand, if I do "80% to author / 20% to me", I tend to receive more BAT ->Â BAT: 0.0602, LRC: 0.1056
I personally like to have more BAT than loop coin so if you are like me maybe "80% to author / 20% to me" is the way to go?Â
Anyhow, if you decided to give me a tip, make sure I am the very first one! Just kidding 🤣 Just DYOR it.
