Unless you have been AFK for some days no you probably have noticed the community update made by Igor that landed a few days ago. I thought we would take a look at one of the news that was in it. The return of Eth as tip.

STA disappears and Eth emerges

Now when we tip a post we no longer will tip STA half of the time. Instead, we will tip Eth along with AMPL. We still have a 50/50 ratio between them and which one you will tip is randomly determined.

You might have noticed that STA still is visible on your Dashboard view. This is because the STA you have earned so far still is there, and you can withdraw it if you so choose. But if you do not withdraw it will automatically be converted into Eth on Tuesday, July 19th. That means if you prefer to have Eth instead of STA you do not have to do anything. Just sit back and relax. And let the STA be converted automatically.

But if you prefer to have STA over Eth, then you need to withdraw your STA before the deadline. I assume asking for a withdrawal of your STA on any day leading up to and including Monday the 18th should be ok and flag your STA for a payout instead of an automatic conversion.

Why would I prefer Eth over STA?

The main reason for me to prefer Eth over STA is that Eth is a much bigger crypto. If we look at the Market Cap of them and compare we see STA has just over $0.5M while Eth has $141B.

This means that Eth is much more secure both when it comes to liquidity and when it comes to resisting market manipulation in the form of pump and dump schemes.

While both cryptos have lost a fair amount of value in the current Bear Market. I see it as much more likely that Eth will be able to recoup those losses and more during a Bull run. While STA, is so small, it might not be able to survive the current Bear Market.

This is the main reason why I will hold my STA and let it automatically convert into Eth.

But there is also the reason for Eth 2.0, also known as The Merge. When Eth switches to Proof of Stake. And many believe that with that will come a great influx of capital from hedge funds and Wallstreet. As they now can stake and get a good return with fairly low risk. And that might lead to a big spike in Eth price. At least that is what I am pulling for.
