Before signing up on the Hive blockchain I never considered blogging as something I would do. In fact, I found my way in when I learned about Splinterlands and wanted to give it a go. Splinterlands is a blockchain game on Hive and in order to play, I needed to create myself a Hive account.
It took me about a year before I actually started to pay attention to what Hive actually was all about. It didn't take me long before I started blogging myself when I learned that I could earn rewards immediately without any required number of followers or likes.
In those early days, I was still under the impression that Hive was just about blogging but the more I spent my time there the more new activities I discovered.
If you haven't heard of Hive at all or have heard about it but are hesitating to jump in, I have great news for you! At the moment there's an ongoing Hive adoption campaign on Zealy with a prize pool of $5,000.
Yes, here comes the referral link part - Here is your golden ticket!
With that link, you will get a smooth onboarding experience plus get to start your Zealy run which is actually very addictive. Not only will you join the race to compete for the prize pool but by completing daily tasks you get to know Hive, meet new people and start earning with your content.
Hive is a long-term game
Even though you can start earning HIVE, HBD, and all sorts of layer 2 tokens with your long- and short-form posts, Hive is still a long-term play in my opinion. Even though I have been around for a while now, I have just recently started to seriously stake and grow my account.
This will gain more influence for me on the chain as my curation rewards will grow along with my voting power meaning I will earn more by simply liking the content I come across.
Today is #HPUD, short for Hive Power Up Day, which happens on the first day of the month and is made to encourage users to stake some HIVE to earn upvotes. I haven't been taking part in it for a while but today I staked 100 HIVE and witnessed my Hive Power grow from 1,344 to 1,444 HP.
I don't know about you but for me, there's something about knowing that I will get more rewards for curating after each power-up...
Hive - A Hidden Gem
Before the bear market and all the FUD, I was hustling around the whole crypto space with my Metamask. So many networks are now left behind for various reasons and Hive now remains the only one. Even though the value of Hive assets has also come down with the Bitcoin price dropping I remain bullish for Hive now more than ever.
The simple reason for that is the building I have seen during these bearish times. There are many amazing projects being built on Hive at the moment that'll be absolute killers once the bull season finally kicks in - perhaps the most notable being Leo Threads, a micro-blogging platform which I consider to be a sort of gateway to Hive.
If you haven't got a Hive account it is super easy to create by joining the Zealy campaign for a smooth landing while you can use your Google or Twitter accounts to sign up.
More Good Reasons Why Hive
As I mentioned before, Hive is not just about writing long-form posts. For example, my own Hive activities have increased exponentially since the micro-blogging on Leo Threads was introduced and the best thing about it is that the earning logic is exactly the same - good content and activity gets rewarded.
I already mentioned Splinterlands but in addition to that are lots of other blockchain games on Hive and I am actually playing six of them actively.
Hive has also some amazing opportunities to stake and save your assets on the base layer. The hidden gem, of course, is the stablecoin, Hive Backed Dollar(HBD), which will give you a 20% APR when staked. I actually wrote a post about my base-layer earning strategies which you can read here if you are interested.
Conclusion
So, seems like I have reached the end of my article without even mentioning that Hive is feeless or bringing out the fact of how fast it is.
I have been enjoying Hive a lot even during the bear market and can't wait to know how it feels like when the bulls are finally in charge. To me, the best thing about Hive is it is real. It is truly decentralized unlike so many other platforms declaring to be Web3 while someone is still running the show.
When I joined Hive the signing up process was somewhat tricky but we've come a long way from those days. The purpose of the Hive Zealy campaign is to make onboarding as smooth as possible so you'll get to experience the true Web3.
If I got you interested enough, why not give it a look? Zealy is my referral link if decide to step into the real Web3.
