Shitcoins was not the final frontier of human stupidity

Shitcoins like Dogecoin, bearing absolutely no use or value, were for quite some time the final frontier of how far stupidity could go. Shitcoins were born to prove that stupid people are not only unaware they are being defrauded, but also proud to be defrauded - plus, they expect to find someone more stupid than them to sell those shitcoins.

But that was until last year. This year, human stupidity went even further, building a whole industry along the way. The Non-Fungible Token (NFT) industry.

NFTs are tokens with a digital file attached to them. This file could be audio, video, image, text, or some kind of a graphic, that is supposed to be the original file, not a copy. The funny thing is that the file attached to the first popular NFT, was actually a copied gif file. Some NFT creation services go one step further: they offer copies of the original file for a price.

In an era where piracy of works of art is almost common practice, human stupidity invented the exact opposite: paying thousands for an alleged original file, that is usually bearing no further use to its owner other than the use licensed to any owner of a copy.

Say you buy the 'original' file of a movie. You can only watch the movie - a movie that you may not at all like, by the way. Any owner of a copy of that file, can watch the same movie with you, often for free. Why on earth would anyone buy from you the original file? And why did you buy that NFT in the first place? Here is why: because you hope to find someone more stupid than you, to buy this NFT from you.

NFTs are the opposite of a competition: the most stupid participant loses all his/her money, and the easiest money anyone wishing to defraud suckers can make, since suckers are defrauded in their own free will.
