How I moved $1 of ETH from Coinbase to BlockFi with zero gas fees

Thank you to the readers who have followed my last three posts. I successfully withdrew my ETH from Publish0x to Coinbase with no fees whatsoever, despite the transaction value being so low. Let's get straight to the point...this is how I moved the funds to my BlockFi account with zero gas fees.

Step 1:  Log into your Coinbase Pro account. For those who are not aware, everyone automatically has a Coinbase Pro account if they already have a valid Coinbase account.

Step 2: Click on "Deposit"  on the top left of the screen

Deposit ETH

Step 3: Select ETH

Select ETH

Step 4: Select Coinbase. This will begin the process of transferring your ETH from your Coinbase account to your Coinbase Pro account for free.

Select Coinbase

Step 5: Enter the amount of ETH you wish to move. I moved the entire amount that I withdrew from Publish0x. Notice zero gas fees! Then scroll down and click "Deposit".

Deposit ETH

Deposit ETH 2

Step 6: Click "Withdraw" from the top left of the screen.

Withdraw ETH

Step 7: Select ETH

Select ETH3

Step 8: Click on "Crypto Address"

Step 9: Enter your BlockFi ETH wallet address, and enter the amount of ETH to withdraw. Notice zero gas fees again! Then scroll down and click on "Withdrawal".

That's it! And yes, I received confirmation that my transaction was successful!

Summary

1. Cash out your ETH from Publish0x to your Coinbase account.

2. Transfer your ETH from your Coinbase account to your Coinbase Pro account.

3. Withdraw your ETH to your BlockFi account.

That's how you can move small amounts ETH to your BlockFi account with zero gas fees when you cash out ETH from Publish0x.

Please note that I take zero credit for discovering this workaround. I did my research online, but I'm happy to share what I have learned with my fellow authors on Publish0x.

Update

Edit: September 18, 2020 - Coinbase will no longer cover gas fees for network transactions. Thank you to fellow author, ashiiik! It was great while it lasted.
