The television in your home is a portal for external thoughts and influences to enter your inner "safe space". I want to reject the "norm" of having TV the main source of information and entertainment in the life of you and your family. Are you sure you don't know what keeps sedentary babies? The world can be a dark place; there is no reason to bring that darkness into one's home. If there is a place where a person should be able to go wild and interact with people who want the absolute best for them, it should be inside the house. How does it work when the television, which is broadcasting the most terrifyingly stressful content, is running 24/7?
Mainstream-Media is nothing more than a perpetual rage machine that thrives on the clicks of frightened citizens. Television consumption is a leading cause of preventable childhood obesity. It is on TV that you see stupid fathers who are nothing more than another child that the mother takes care of. TV does nothing but share content that it believes will scare you. I'm not saying this as a tinfoil clown trying to spread conspiracies, it's the truth. Public TV content is there to keep you glued to the screen, it is there to put you in a position that you can't take your eyes off. How come? Because hours watched equals $$$ and $$$ equals more power and influence leading to more content and video produced. TV wants you to be afraid of viruses, economic crises, presidential scandals and everything in between.
Do you know how many advertisements are created specifically with children in mind? In the United States, companies spent over $ 17 billion in 2009 on children. Companies are spending a lot of money and literally studying child psychology to get into our children's minds. They want you to select their brand for breakfast, lunch, when you go out to eat, when you go on vacation, what clothes to wear, what games to buy and what gifts are "cool". Do you ever look at your child and wonder why they don't appreciate the things they have? If so, the answer is that television has brainwashed them from liking something ... It's always about "What's next ...?" which prevents them from appreciating anything.
