Well I could have selected my favorite Belgian Triple Beer to start this blog, but I have decided to start with a blog which comes from the neighbourhood.
Well Kompel is a local brewery. The name reflects the team who did work in the mines, not so long ago in our town.
They did start with an underground (dark beer) and an above ground (blond beer). But to be honest I am not to found on these.
But some time ago they did create a Belgian triple. And I am mostly a triple lover!
The name lโor noir does mean as the black gold. In our case not oil but coal.
The ingredients are water (yes water and remember we have to drink at least 2 liters of water per day ๐), yeast, hop and barley malt.
It is a rather mild triple with an alcohol percentage of 8.2. Pretty low compared to my beloved Karmeliet!
When one has a fine taste, one should taste some vanilla, mild spices and of course a little bit hoppy!
If I do compare it with mu number 1 triple, I would give it a score of 7 out of 10. It tastes good enough but it is not a triple of which I would drink 2 back to back! It just tastes too much like some regular pints!
In the old days a great beer post would consist of at least 3 pictures. So here is the second, half way ๐
And a third one reflecting the spiderweb according to the brewery!
For the enthusiasts here is the link to the page of the brewery: Kompel Bier. They do have a web shop. They do ship to Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Germany!
