This Marketing project of the Telos Foundation aims to gather tons of NFT artists after the successful onboarding of the Developers here during the recent Hackathon Launching (Telos Spark).

We are looking for highly creative and motivated individuals who have an intermediate exposure and inclination to the world of NFT, digital arts, media and design. The competition is open to all digital designers, whether or not they have experience in creating NFTs. So, fear not those new to this space who are unsure of the process or technical aspects! One of our principal objectives in this endeavor is to demonstrate just how easily a novice can take their first steps in minting an NFT when utilizing Telos. Later in this article, we will also delve into other unparalleled benefits, such as the lighting-quick speed and meager costs of operating on Telos.
Following the massive success of our EVM hackathon, we are excited to announce that Telos Foundation will host another contest for our community; but this time, we’re calling upon imaginative digital artists to showcase and integrate their work into one of the fastest-rising digital asset classes in the history of tech. As you may have guessed, we’re referring to NFTs — an immutable asset that has generated tens of billions in revenue in the last year alone. As a result, NFTs have inserted themselves into countless industries, from art to music and even gaming.
Our upcoming Mission NFT Challenge will be the first step in providing creators with a more seamless way to create and mint their designs. This is a significant step for Telos as the Mission NFT Challenge marks the beginning of a long and fruitful partnership with Byt.io, a leading NFT Marketplace that has recently added Telos EVM integration. Like us, our colleagues at Byt realize the true potential NFTs have to redefine what it means to “own” a digital asset in an era of copycats and rampant unauthorized reproduction. Participants in the Mission NFT Challenge will have the opportunity to sell their creations on Byt and additional secondary marketplaces such as Tofu NFT and AreaX. This partnership will truly pave way to achieve our long-term goals of mass-adoption indeed.
Voting Process and Prize Pool
The contest opens for registration on Monday, May 9th, 12:00 pm EST, and participants can submit their projects by Friday, June 24th, 12:00 pm EST.
Public Voting on the submissions will take place between Monday, May 23rd, 12:00 pm EST. to Thursday, June 30th, at 12:00 pm EST. Twenty finalists will be announced on Friday, July 1st, at 12:00 pm EST, and the top five winners will be selected and announced on Tuesday, July 5th at 11:00 am EST.
The five winners of our Mission NFT contest will win a prize of 25,000 TLOS each; a bonus “Gooey’s Choice” prize of 50,000 TLOS will be awarded by our in-house NFT curator, The Big Gooey. The public voting round will take place on the TaiKai Network. TaiKai, which is also built on Telos, is the platform that enabled us to run the Telos Spark EVM Hackathon competition successfully.

Judging Criteria: The Big Three
While the public round of voting will be decided entirely by our community and each person’s individual preference, our panel of judges will “sharpen the pencil” and select their top 5 based on more specific criteria. Of course, like virtually any competition that revolves around creative design, the artistic appeal is one of the primary attributes taken into consideration. However, since their inception, NFTs have evolved past simply serving as a collectible item, with utility becoming a key area of focus for many new collections. Therefore, our judges will also base their picks upon the utility of each submission and what benefits it can provide for holders.
Lastly, our judges will analyze which NFT entries show the most promise to foster more growth as a collection within the Telos ecosystem. This will give projects with the most interesting and robust communities the edge in being picked as one of our final five winners. Please note that the winner of the “Gooey Pick” will have the added bonus of working closely with The Big Gooey in bringing their NFTs to market.
Making a Positive Impact in the NFT Space
While the NFT craze has all but revolutionized numerous sectors to create new and thriving economies, this unique sector has not come without several pain points that continuously plague users. Chains such as Ethereum are notorious for astronomical gas fees and lagging transaction times due to front-running, which was on full display recently during Yuga Lab’s Otherdeed NFT land sale. Throughout the course of the weekend sale, a staggering $180mil worth of Ethereum was burned in gas fees alone, with some users paying up to $3950 in gas for an NFT worth one-tenth of that amount. Still, those who were successful in obtaining an NFT during this debacle were considered “lucky,” as those who weren’t able to mint were left with nothing more than a bill for an outrageous transaction charge. We also like to note that using Ethereum blockchain consumes tons of energy during transfers, the reason that there would be creations of carbon footprint. We just recently onboarded the Astronaut Scott Kelly because of the fact that he wanted to push his 15 sets of NFT's to be sold in Telos EVM and he is an Earth-saver. The situation described above is fundamentally contrary to the core values we hold at Telos. Moreover, it does nothing to incentivize aspiring NFT consumers or creators with limited capital from entering the space and, in many cases, forces users to leave it altogether. Adding to this problem are environmental concerns due to energy usage needed to mint on other chains, which has been the subject of much scrutiny lately in DeFi and political circles.
Building the Gold Standard in All DeFi Protocols
From day one, Telos has remained committed to creating the most user-friendly network in all of DeFi. We accomplished this with our ground-breaking EVM, which features unprecedented speed, low costs, and a negative carbon footprint on all transactions. We are committed to our community in upholding this standard as we offer NFT creators a new platform to mint their collections almost instantly and with total gas fees adding up to just a few cents per NFT (yes, you read that correctly). Needless to say, this is a far cry from the hundreds- and in some cases thousands — of dollars, one could likely spend when utilizing another network.

Criteria and Deliverables:
We are looking to make the process of creating NFT art as accessible and streamlined as possible. Telos believes that the future of NFTs will play a pivotal role in the crypto environment and our lives more broadly. Mission NFT is a challenge that opens the doors to artists and brings daring new artistic work to the market.
We want to see:
- An artist that can bring us a properly formatted file of their artwork, along with specs for how your layers are written out. There will be a verification process that your art is compliant with our specs to move forward.
- A collection that has already been minted on Telos EVM (Please see the Resources tab for how to apply for verification on Byt)
Your successful project will consist of:
- Properly formatted files (.PNG) Specify canvas size (ie 800 x 800)
- A scheme that lays out the layers (i.e. Background, body, face, head, ect...) preferably in a .doc
- If 3D artists are entering the contest, please provide a video of your work in .mp4 format
- Artist statement video that speaks to what your project is about and why you wanted to enter the contest and build on telos
- 5-10 rough ideas of what your NFT will look like as a finished product
- What you will do with the prize money to develop your career
- If you are a collection that has already minted, please provide a summary of the project. Please provide apply for verification on Byt as well supply 10 examples of the NFT project.
- A disclaimer allowing us to use your video statements in promotion advertising (there is a clause in the registration where you accept the terms laid out in the rules)
Process of submitting art for NFT generation
Have your files in a zipped folder and contain the following:
- Artwork in folders sorted by layer and formatted properly (.PNG) ensure a layering scheme, rarity and canvas size.
- A folder with mock-ups of your NFT for public viewing (preferably .PNG)
- A document containing an artist statement, a brief description of what you’ll do with the 25k Telos, and why you decided to build on telos, and if possible, a video artist submission.
- You MUST label the folder containing your Digital Art Files with <PROJECT, FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, EMAIL CONTACT>
- Ensure the file folder is Zipped or compressed
- You MUST email your submission to [email protected]
- Please ensure you don't upload your artwork layers to your project within Taikai as you don't want to give away the surprise. Please, as mentioned prior, provide visual examples in your project profile.

Project Verification
Once these have been fulfilled and accepted, we will confirm with you that your project is verified for entry. Your entry is NOT accepted until you receive a VERIFICATION EMAIL from us.
Please note that Telos reserves the right to disqualify any entry on the basis of bad taste or inappropriate content. Sorry, our decisions are final and we will not enter into debate. As well, if it is discovered during the duration of the contest that your submission is a forgery or direct copy of an existing project, you will be immediately disqualified from the contest.

Teamwork
The Taikai platform promotes teamwork! Digital artists can team up with NFT pros and marketing specialists if it helps to develop their project. We encourage collaboration and building new relationships.
Voting
Mission NFT is hosted by the TaiKai platform which allows for a great user experience when uploading your submission, as well as allows the contest to hold a public vote which will determine the the semi finalist participants.
Public Voting Round - in the first stage we will invite the public to vote and select twenty finalists.
Each voter will be given an allocation of tokens to allot to the projects you’d like to see advance to the next round. We will have 5 weeks of public voting where you can allocate tokens, where the 20 contestants will advance to the semi-finals.
Judging Round - in the final stage our handpicked judges will pick five winners.
After the top twenty projects have advanced, we will hold a judges panel to decide who the final 5 winners will be, along with naming the judge’s pick to award that will go to the most outstanding NFT project.
Voting Criteria
The Public round of voting will be more open-ended with people allocating tokens to the projects they like the most. We’re looking for the public to vote on three qualities, so artists need to consider:
- Artistic merit – the most appealing look (i.e. what looks best)
- Utility – the most useful project (i.e. explain what can the NFT collection do for its owner in your artistic vision and statement), and
- Community – the largest or most interesting group of supporters
When the public voting has completed our judges will pick the overall winners. They will look at the project overall and assess which NFTs have the most viable way forward as a collection and which can help grow the Telos ecosystem. The top choice “The Big Gooey’s Pick” will be a project of exceptional quality and promise that The Big Gooey will work with one on one to bring to market if it's not already a minted collection. source
