Splinterlands - Weekly Battle Challenge, Xenith Archer

Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenges - Xenith Archer

First things first, feel free to just go to their website directly but if Splinterlands interests you I'd be very happy if you joined up with my referral link:

Xenith Archer - What is it good for, absolutely nothing.. well maybe not quite nothing but a card that truly has limited value.

Looking at its stats:

Attack of one - only getting to two at level six.  Yes it gets a bit faster and has a bit more life at higher levels but at level one it is for all money pretty darned useless.

However since its a challenge card I'll put it in.

It's a Fire Focus for me and to up my points I've splurged on renting a few fire cards including the almighty Yodin.  Since the Xenith Archer is (unsurprisingly) a ranged attacker at least Yodin can buff it!

So without further ado, let's get into a battle.

The Battle

The rules for this battle were:

  • 34 mana cap - A decent cap allowing for some big cards;

  • Reverse Speed - Slow is better in this ruleset!

  • Divine Shield for all;

  • Fire, Life, or Earth only.

As mentioned - Fire Focus so fire and Yodin...

And so my lineup was as follows:

Yodin (7) - Awesome fun to use with Blast, plus one ranged and plus one life!

Grum (11) - Powerful tank, shield, life and of course Bloodlust.

Radiated Brute (5) - one speed but two melee and reach ability.  Very handy for this ruleset;

Ettin (8) - one speed and three (plus one) ranged attack with Yodin - great in this ruleset too;

Xenith Archer (2) - one speed as well so good for these rules and two ranged with Yodin, nice!;

Radiated Scorcher (1) - just there as a filler at one mana cost;

This team is working hard to make the most of the reverse speed ruleset and has some strong ranged attack to work with Yodin.  The melee frontline and reach tanks also work nicely with Blast!

The enemy went with a life team which was interesting - cue ranged attack perhaps?

Sloan (4) - For plus one ranged

Shieldbearer (8) - the classic life taunt tank;

Divine Healer (3) - for the tank heal of course;

Silvershield Archers (2) - for the ranged snipe attack;

Crystalsmith (4) - for the tank heal with a ranged attack;

Prismologist (8) - for the powerful ranged attack and blast;

Air Elemental (5)  - solid ranged attack and usually very useful because it's fast but not this time!

A ranged heavy team to work with Sloan with dual tank healers and a taunt tank.  Usually this is quite powerful but Yodin is a great counter to taunt with the blast attacks!

And on to the battle.

Turn One - My team goes first for the most part due to reverse speed. Due to the Yodin Blasts the team quickly (or is that slowly?) does a decent amount of damage to the Shieldbearer and takes out the Divine Healer with blasts.  His team pretty much all misses due to the reverse speed ruleset leaving turn two to start as follows:

Turn Two - the Shield bearer is still hanging on but thanks to reverse speed and Yodin blasts my team goes first and takes out the Shield Bearer, the Silvershield Archers and starts on the Crystal Smith and Prismologist.  His team gets some hits in this time but it is insignificant thanks to the Divine Shields and the strong frontline tanks leaving turn three to start as follows with just the Air Elemental being a "threat" as the Prismologist cant attack from first slot.

Turn Three - and to continue the trend my team goes first due to reverse speed and deletes the Prismologist and the Air Elemental - done and dusted quickly and easily thanks to the power of Yodin and taking advantage of the ruleset!

So to sum up that was an easy battle and here is what we learned about the Xenith Archer - it is basically of limited use but due to its low cost if you are buffing ranged and can take advantage of the right rules it can at least lend the team a helping hand even with its poor stats and no abilities!
