This weeks challenge is the first dragons challenge under the new Chaos Legion.
As it happens during my dailies I encountered a earthquake battle and so I was able to use my favourite Earthquake neutralising summoner, Brighton Bloom.

The Battle

The rules for this battle were:
- 36 mana cap
- Earthquake - two damage to non-flying units
- Holy Protection - all units start with Divine Shield
- Fire, Water, Life or Dragons only.
There was no clear indication as to what my opponent was going to do except that he often used anti-magic to mitigate the Alric meta probably. So for an earthquake battle I went with a tried and true Dragon combination with Brighton Bloom and Djinn Chwala in the front line. I used Life as the the splinter and mostly ranged to back the Djinn up.

And so my lineup was as follows:
Brighton (4) - No need to stress over earthquake!
Djinn Chwala (8) - Frontline tank with thorns;
Venari Wavesmith (4) - for the tank heal;
Creeping Ooze (1) - to fill out the team and for the slow;
Time Mage (4) - the only magic attack in my line-up but really here for his slow ability - double slow anyone?;
Pelacor Arbalest (6) - only two life but a powerful double ranged attack of two!;
Silvershield Sheriff (9) - for the powerful three snipe ranged attack.
This team used the whole cap of 36 mana had a powerful ranged lineup. The double slow should mean most of my units will go early and may bring out a few misses. Magic could hurt but all in all it should be a solid team.
And my opponent went with a life deck with NO FLYERS - a strange move - perhaps but it appears he has tried to mitigate earthquake by using some cards to buff armor and life.
Tyrun (3) - as summoner for the plus one to armor which will take some of the earthquake damage;
Warrior of Peace (7) - in first slot to tank, no attack so will not be in danger from thorns and with it's demoralise ability will mitigate melee damage. On top of that it is a four star card and at that level has 12 life;
Shieldbearer (8) - with taunt will split some damage away from Warrior of Peace. Has a high armor and life so can survive a few rounds of earthquake too;
Baby Unicorn (3) - in third slot, mainly for the bonus life but as another four star card has more life than usual and in this case has a small melee attack too;
Truthspeaker (3) - in fourth slot for its protect ability to help slow the earthquake damage;
Divine Healer (3) - in fifth slot and another levelled card - at three stars not only does it have the heal but also one magic attack too;
Silvershield Sheriff (9) - for the powerful three snipe ranged attack to finish the lineup.
Also using the whole 36 mana cap this team mitigated earthquake differently to my team. Instead of using flying they used a healer, increased life and increased armor to bulk up cards ensuring they'd survive a number of Earthquakes before dying.
And so whose strategy will win out?
Turn One - With the double slow from Time Mage and Ooze my entire team goes first blasting the Shieldbearer and the Djinn Chwala hitting the Warrior of Peace. His team goes second but only the Divine Healer and Sheriff can attack taking out the divine shields of the Djinn and the Crystalsmith. The turn ends with his Warrior of Peace on three armor and 13 life, his Shieldbearer on 10 life and my Djinn on five armor and nine life.
Turn Two - Earthquake to start taking out any remaining divine shields on his team and chipping at the Warrior of Peace and the Shieldbearer while my team remains untouched - Thanks Brighton! The turn goes in a similar fashion to turn one but all that focus fire takes out the Shieldbearer. Warrior of peace has his armor destroyed and takes some damage but Divine Healer heals him back to 13 life. Due to all that slow his Sheriff misses and the turn ends with Warrior of Peace on 13 life, Djinn Chwala on five armor and eight life.
Turn Three - Earthquake again - now divine shields on his team are gone all of them take two damage. The turn then commences for real my team does some solid damage on the Warrior of peace and takes out the armor of the Truthspeaker. His Sheriff has almost taken out the Crystalsmith though. The turn ends with Warrior of Peace on eight life and Djinn Chwala on five armor and eight life.
Turn Four - Earthquake - takes out any remaining armor on his team, kills the Truthspeaker and damages the Warrior of Peace - my flying team laughs at them. The team chips away at the Warrior of Peace and hes going to go down but the Arbalest misses a shot. My Sheriff hits his divine healer while his Sheriff matches the incompetance of my arbalest and misses too. The turn ends with Warrior of Peace on five life (thanks to his healer) and Djinn Chwala on five armor and eight life (still!).
Turn Five and Six- Earthquake - Finishes off his divine healer and damages the rest of his team as my team looks on. My team finally takes out the Warrior of Peace and also manages to take out the Unicorn. My Sheriff took a potshot at his reducing it to four life. My team is still fully intact with the Djinn tanking on five armor and nine life and his Sheriff tanking with four life. Earthquake goes again in turn six before my team finishes his Sheriff off and that is another battle won.
And so that's another challenge - easier than expected but longer too. His team was quite powerful but lacking flying my team was easily able to outlast his even with his levelled cards. If it had been a poison rather than a earthquake challenge it could have been very very different.
