Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenges - Another week, Another Challenge so here's my entry....
First things first, feel free to just go to their website directly but if Splinterlands interests you I'd be very happy if you joined up with my referral link:

This weeks challenge features the neutral card Centaur.
The centaur card is a ranged attacker with snipe but at level one at least I don't find myself using it often.

The Battle

The rules for this battle were:
- 99 mana cap
- Lost Legendaries - no legendary cards
- Fire, Earth, Life or Dragons only.
It was clear from the history that my opponent loved the earth splinter and used a lot of magic lineups with either Mylor or Obsidian as their summoner. To that end I decided to go with an archery focussed anti-magic deck! Archery to avoid thorns, anti magic well to mitigate Obsidian!

And so my lineup was as follows:
General Sloan (4) - For the extra ranged damage;
Clay Golem (6) - Frontline void tank for anti-magic!;
Crystal Werewolf (3) - for the silence (antimagic) ability;
Venari Crystalsmith (4) - for the tank heal and ranged attack;
Pelacor Arbalest (6) - only two life but a powerful double ranged attack of two plus one with Sloan!;
Silvershield Sheriff (9) - for the powerful snipe ranged attack.
Centaur (3) - fast ranged sniper but mainly for the challenge (I could have used a better card since the cap was 99!)
This team used only 35 mana and was a shade handicapped as I used Centaur when I could have used a more powerful ranged attacker such as Lone Boatman or Mantoid. However if my opponent went with Magic they would be in trouble against the Clay Golem/Crystal Werewolf combo.
And my opponent went with his Mylor/Magic combo. I expect Mylor to mitigate melee attackers (i.e. from Water) but still with a lot of powerful magic and healing.
Mylor (3) - as summoner for the thorns;
Unicorn Mustang (8) - in first slot to tank - fast, thorns and mitigates magic;
Mushroom Seer (5) - for the silence (antimagic) ability and of course its own two magic attack;
Wood Nymph (4) - for tank heal and magic attack;
Goblin Physic (5) - for tank heal and more magic attack;
Mantoid (6) - for the ranged snipe attack;
Mycelic Slipspawn (9) - for the strong magic attack and taunt.
Using 40 of the total manacap this team was quite versatile with strong magic attack, magic mitigation, thorns and healing! But my antimagic team should deal with it - lets see!
Turn One - The unicorn mustang is fast and almost slices the clay golem in half. Though his mycelic slipspawn gets one useless shot on the Clay Golem my archery team of the sheriff, centaur and arbalest fill the slipspawn with holes and kill it. The crystalsmith heals the golem but misses the unicorn before taking a shot from the mantoid. His magic team then kicks in and stares as all their attacks are useless on the clay golem! The turn ends with a clay golem miss leaving the clay golem on six life and unicorn on 10 life as tanks.
Turn Two - The mustang again slices the golem in half. The sheriff snipes out the mushroom seer and the centaur does the same to the nymph. The crystalsmith heals the golem and hits the mustang while the arbalest gets one out of two shots on the Mustang. The mantoid kills the crystalsmith before the goblin physic heals the mustang a bit but does no damage to the golem. The golem misses the mustang and the turn ends with the clay golem on five life and the mustang on eight. It is now all but over!
Turn three and four - The mustang again hits the golem hard. The sheriff kills the physic and the centaur hits the mantoid. The arbalest hits the mustang twice bringing it down to two life before getting killed by the mantoid. The golem finally gets a hit in and kills the unicorn but in turn dies to thorns. This leaves him with the mantoid in first slot, useless as it is ranged! The match then ends on turn four with the sheriff delivering the coup de grace and finishing the mantoid off.
Overall an easy win thanks to mitigating all his magic attack - it may have been different with him using obsidian as some of the magic may have killed the golem faster but fortunately he tried to cover all bases and used Mylor to mitigate melee attacks.
And so that's another challenge - it's not too hard if you guess the opponents team foundation right!
