Splinterlands - My 14th Season (17 November) - Revenge of the Rental Cancellations

By Silver Crypto | Tales of the Crypt0 | 17 Nov 2021

Another two weeks gone and another season ends already and it's time for another season report.

First things first, feel free to just go to their website directly but if Splinterlands interests you I'd be very happy if you joined up with my referral link:

Before we get into the Splinterstats report, I'd like to say that after a happy season where cancellations seemed to have vanished they came back with a vengeance this season.  Rentals were cancelled left and right, rent costs went up massively - the worst I saw was one rental I had that went up over 15x! I had spent much of the season in Silver I thanks to a number of rentals that should have taken me through to the new season.  Alas many got cancelled, so I rented some new ones with a day and a half to go only to find more cancellations when I woke up and the rent market having gone insane with prices well beyond anything I was willing to spend.

I do love the rental system but this ability to cancel, by the OWNER, is crazy in my opinion.  It is a blight on the game and leaves a very sour taste for those of us who rent cards.  As I've mentioned before perhaps some sort of rent cancellation fee is required or some sort of cooldown before you can rent a card out again.

Anyway, enough sadness and on to the weekly results.

Rewards Report

1 Gold Foil Common

33 Standard Common

6 Standard Rare

1 Standard Epic

Total - 41 Cards

Captured DEC (Ranked Rewards)

DEC Earned 2693

Total Ranked Play Rewards

Total Ranked Play Earnings 3755 DEC 9 CREDITS

So rewards looked pretty good with a total of 41 cards added to my collection with one Gold Foil!

The cards I got were:

2 Pelacor Deceiver

4 Pelacor Mercenary

1 Pelacor Mercenary (GOLD)

5 Gargoya Lion

2 Gargoya Devil

9 Pelacor Bandit

6 Pelacor Conjurer

7 Venari Heatsmith

2 Venari Crystalsmith

1 Venari Wavesmith

1 Twilight Basilisk

1 Djinn Chwala

Exciting times - thought I already had all these cards each one helps just a little.  The standouts were the gold foil Pelacor Mercenary and the Djinn Chwala! The more cards the better!

Rental Report

Type DEC (fees) Revenue 0.000 (0.000) Expenses (3419.619) Cancellation Refunds 194.479 NET (3225.140)

The rental report is sad reading - I spent a lot to get the power I needed for the season.  Some of the cost carrys through into this season but overall the expense was a lot but I think overall it was probably worth it if you look at the overall DEC value of the total rewards vs the amount spent.  The amount spent was also magnified due to the cancellations (if I had no cancellations the total rental would probably have been about 500 less.  It does show that the cost needed to get to Silver 1 does add up quickly as you need a quite a lot of power to get there.

And that about sums it up - Another solid season, a few new cards added to the collection, not much increase in DEC balance and otherwise slow going!  However it's fun and every DEC is better than no DEC (credits are no fun though!)

Hope you've enjoyed my season report - How did yours go?  Finally if you're interested in any of the platforms I've been using links are below:
