Ark (ARK) is a Blockchain-as-a-Service platform that was launched in 2017. The platform is a Blockchain-as-a-Service platform that helps businesses launch their own blockchain platforms with ease.
Stating that its mission is to “empower everyone, regardless of their aim or technical background, to quickly and easily leverage blockchain technology”, the Ark platform is intended to help individuals, businesses and communities create their own blockchain platforms to help them personal goals and build solutions for society.
With a keen emphasis on growing its ecosystem and attracting developers and entities to build on and use the platform, Ark is attempting to lower the barrier of entry into blockchain usage and developing, as well as building a backbone upon which different blockchains can communicate with each other.
Ark’s most prominent technical feature is its SmartBridge technology and its ARK logic, which is a set of tools that includes including custom transaction types, templates and plugins. The former is Ark’s method linking different blockchains together, while the latter is the platform’s approach to smart contracts, letting developers create their own logic for their solutions.
The Ark team is currently spending its time developing version 2.6 of its Ark Core, which is slated for release in Q3 2019. Future development goals include Ark Core version 3.0, the Ark mobile wallet version 2.0, and plugin manager for the Ark desktop wallet - all of which are expected in Q4 2019. 2020 should see the release of the ARK Marketplace, ARK Explorer and ARK deployer.
