Kicking dust from cloven hooves
Across the scorched Unknown,
The Lord of Fire makes his moves,
Protects the Iron Throne.
Practicing his vile tricks
He always wears a grin,
and though the Torch is on his six,
The Fire Lord will win.
Lord of Fire
Name - Yupal
Splinter - The Burning Lands
Set - Essence Orb
Class - Range Attack
Habitat - The Fire Demons reside in the least populated area of the Burning Lands, known to most simply as the Unknown. In a crude palace called the Rock of Rignis, their current ruler sits on his iron throne. He demands that all Fire Demons refer to him as the Lord of Fire, and although he is comparatively small and weak, his name has been proven by his recent conquest of the previous leadership regime. He came, he challenged, he took power. He is Yupal, the Lord of Fire.
Size - 26 Chickens. The Lord of Fire is much smaller than a typical Fire Demon, but underestimating him is a mistake that many have made before.
Lifespan - Like any Fire Demon, the Lord of Fire has no specific expiration. However, all Demons who rule are eventually destroyed by another more ambitious Fire Demon, and the Lord of Fire’s time will come.
Weapon - The Lord of Fire is especially proud of his flaming trident, Korbuchal. With it, he has slain hundreds and intimidated the likes of Dragons. It is an incredibly versatile weapon, easily convertible from a close range melee stick to a long-distance fire shooter.
Diet - Even though he is one of the smallest Fire Demons, the Lord of Fire consumes huge quantities of meat each day. He is quite fortunately fond of Hellaphant, a large animal that roams plentifully in the Unknown of the Burning Lands. Sometimes he enjoys going on the hunt himself, even though the rest of the Fire Demons always follow his orders.
Allies - Although he has not made it known to his people, the Lord of Fire has rubbed hoofs with some very important, ancient beings. He even speaks from time to time with the High Priestess Mishna, deep in her underground lair. Mishna is thought by the vast majority of the Ferexia to be a myth. He has also recently been conducting secret talks with General Piro of the Ferexia armies, outside Fire Demon territory. No one knows what the two discuss, but there has never been trust between the Fire Demons and the Torch.
Enemies - Fire Demons have always been enemies of the Ferexia way of life. Their old traditions clash with the imposed order of the Torch, and most Ferexia children are taught from an early age to fear Fire Demons. On the surface, the Lord of Fire keeps up this feud, but behind the scenes he is making deals with Ferexia Generals. He knows his true enemies, and he will expose (and destroy) them only when the time is right.
Work - The proven leader of the Fire Demons is not expected to do any work, other than defending their own right to rule. For many of their leaders, this has been a difficult job in itself. When a new Fire Demon takes power, several others are usually plotting immediate schemes of betrayal and removal. The Lord of Fire has squashed each of these schemes one by one, making brutal examples of the betraying Demons. He can (at least for now) sit comfortably and securely on his onyx throne.
Pastimes - Few of the Legendary monsters enjoy attending the Mount Mox tournaments as spectators, but it is one of the Lord of Fire’s favorite things to do. Unlike many Fire Demons, he can control his personal flames (and his personal interactions) enough to travel on ships, which he does frequently. He pays a hefty yearly sum of seed coins to the Gloridax masters for his exquisitely comfortable box seats at the Mount Mox Arena.
