Hi everyone, I am back with another Splinterlands SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE. This week the theme is the Chaos Knight.
You can watch the full battle here, if you like.
The Card

Chaos Knight is a life splinter melee attacker with several different abilites, which I want to take a look first, before defining its role.
Level 1 - Shield
Level 5 Giant Killer
Level 9 Insipire
With some decent health and armor at level the Chaos Knight is a very straightfoward tank. At level 5 he also becomes sort of a high mana tank killer, because of the Giant Killer ability and his 3 damage. At level 9 he ges Inspire which gives everyone on the team +1 Melee, making him a support.
So overall the Chaos Knight can fulfill different roles, ranging from pure tank to high mana tank killer, to support. Certain rulesets where melee can attack from anywhere for or every melee monster has sneak for example you could also play him at the back of your team, absorbing sneak attacks while buffing your own team and still being able to attack.
I'm only able to play her at level one but I like the combination of stats and abilities for six mana a lot and think that it's a great card. </div>
Ruleset
The ruleset was Reverse Speed and Standard with 36 mana and every splinter playable except for Fire and Dragon.
The Line Up & Strategy

With Reverse Speed in general I like to play General Sloan, because he has a lot of slow but strong ranged attackers. My main priority when playing him is always to keep the attackers alive as long as possible, since they are fairly weak and can't attack from the first position.
Chaos Knight as my tank, because of his health, armor and shield ability.
Djinn Renova in the second position as an allrounder really. Enough health to take a couple hits once Chaos Knight goes down, a bit of magic damage and a great ability with strengthen, that makes my whole team a bit more sustainable.
Stitch Leech in the third spot, because it's a very cheep, slow (which is good in Reverse Speed) melee attacker with good damage.
Venari Crystalsmith as a support with the tank heal to keep my first position monsters alive longer and because she benefits from the Sloan buff.
Pelacor Arbalest the absolute damage dealing beast, get's buffed from Sloan, deals 6 damage per round.
Lone Boatman wanted to take use of the Sloan buff a bit more and since he has one armor I decided to put him in the back to protect against eventual sneak attackers.
But enough theory and strategizing, let's get into the action!
Round 1

First round is as simple as it gets. All my damage dealers hit his tank and all his damage dealers hit my tank. The power of the shield ability comes to shine right away, though. The Chaos Knight survives the first round and his Shieldbearer dies, even though it has 5 more health and 1 more armor. Off to a good start.
Round 2

Because of the heal from Venari Crystalsmith Chaos Knight is able to take another 3 Hits, before dying and being replaced in first position by Djinn Renova who takes a big hit herself. On the other side I kill his Luminous Eagle, despite it dodging one of my attacks and the Herbalist falls victim to my Djinn.
Round 3

My attacks go everywhere. Stitch Leech hits the enemy Arbalest with his sneak attack, but it survives. Loan Boatman hits the Portal Spinner and takes it's armor off and the rest of my attacks hit and kill the Truthspeaker, with my Djinn Renova getting killed, before it can attack, despite being healed.
Round 4

Well, you can probably already guess, what's happening. Stitch Leech goes first, because he is the slowest (the fastest in Reverse Speed)and takes out the portal spinner. Pelacor Arbalest can't attack from the first position and that's the end of the story.
Conclusion

I got to say, I was quit impressed with the Chaos Knight. To be honest I didn't really play him before, mainly because I don't have a leveled up life summoner and when I do play life I usually go for the Shieldbearer in front, but boy was I schooled here. Because that's exactly what my opponent did and the first round clearly showed who could take more of a punch.
Other than that my plan to keep the damage dealers alive by having an off tank with Djinn Renova in the second spot and a healer for support worked like a charm. Sometimes defense is the best offense and without Chaos Knight tanking the complete damage in the first round this wouldn't have worked.
Also winning a mirror match where your opponent has leveled up cards and you don't feels so rewarding and it's what I love about this game especially. You might be able to buy strong cards, but that doesn't mean you will win every game.
I hope you enjoyed this read and maybe got some helpful tips or inspiration. Until next week,
