Light-weight blockchain: Why Pascal blockchain is the pace-setter in memory-friendly blockchains.

Light-weight blockchain: Why Pascal blockchain is the pace-setter in memory-friendly blockchains.

Your normal orientation of a blockchain is probably ‘a complicated, high-end technology with memory-intensive applications’. For low budget cryptocurrency enthusiast, participation in the core technology of blockchains and cryptocurrency have been hampered by their inability to get sophisticated devices. You’re certainly not planning to run a bitcoin node on a 2GB RAM personal computer…’a murder act’, many would say.

From poorly scaling blockchains to over 10gigabyte size wallet synchronizations which would certainly take several hours (and day(s) as the case may be) to install. Most blockchains are known to be annoyingly memory intensive and unhealthy for low-end and mid-end devices. Owners of this kind of devices are usually warned off venturing into the core technological aspects of blockchains and cryptocurrency. Very few cryptocurrencies can boast compatibility with mid-end devices, low-end devices are out of the question.

The fact that running core blockchain applications takes some high computing power is a major turn of, especially for newbies and enthusiasts who are unable to purchase high-end devices. Full participation in the emerging technology is unfortunately a mere illusion for them. Personally, I’ve resorted to using mobile wallets for some cryptocurrencies instead of the more exciting desktop wallets. Many still complain of the mobile blockchain applications heating up their devices.

Creating lightweight and memory-friendly application is hence desired and an ingredient for global adoption. A feature lacking in most blockchain projects.

For PASCAL blockchain, the story turns out different…

With each developmental milestone, Pascal blockchain gets even more flexible and memory-friendly. By introducing the concept of a ‘Delible blockchain, pascal blockchain completely solved the scalability issue plaguing the blockchain technology and set the paths clear for storage of infinite amount of data on the blockchain without the blockchain size increasing tangibly. Despite continuous storage of huge amount of data on the pascal blockchain, its size has increased only a little, relative to poorly scalable blockchains, this increase could be correctly termed ‘infinitesimal’.

With this in place, the pascal blockchain can be synchronized in a matter of minutes, in a very poor internet connection, this may take just a couple of hours and the whole blockchain only occupies a very small part of the computer memory. Hence running the pascal blockchain is a simple and fast process which requires little resources from your device.

The delible blockchain solution to the issue of scalability seems to be a masterpiece, but actually, this is just one of the numerous ways Pascal adds flexibility to its blockchain and achieves compatibility with low-end devices as well as devices with higher capabilities.

The RandomHash (a protocol developed to solve the mining centralization issue experienced during the early days of pascal blockchain) revolutionized pascal coin mining and solved not only a technical issue but also an economic problem. The GPU and ASIC resistant mining algorithm have since its development become a very vital part of pascal blockchain.

The first version of the RandomHash perfectly solved the problem of centralized mining and saved the Pascal Coin ecosystem from the harsh implications of dual mining and the Pascal Coin being mined as a secondary coin, however due to its computationally-heavy nature, the RandomHash has resulted in an unforeseen consequence of slow blockchain validation. This defeats the goal of developing a flexible, memory flexible blockchain.

As a part of its upgrade the version 5, pascal blockchain introduced the RandomHash2, a very significant upgrade to the memory-intensive RandomHash1, RandomHash2 not only presents a more efficient mining algorithm, it also features a more flexible protocol which requires a very small memory resources to function. RandomHash2 is memory-light in order to support low-end hardware. A CPU will only need 300KB of memory to verify a hash. Unlike RandomHash, mining does not consume additional memory since the cached nonces are fully evaluated. Once again, the pascal blockchain emphasizes its goal of a flexible and efficient memory blockchain.

But they are far from done! Introducing Pascal blockchain’s AbstractMemory (AbstractMem) library.

Pascal’s AbstractMem library: introducing ‘offshore’ data storage technology to improve memory friendliness of Pascal blockchain applications

"AbstractMem" library is a multi-purpose generic library written in Pascal language that allows use abstract structures that are stored in memory or in disc and are automatically cached.

Introduced with the latest proposed update to the current Version 5 (five) of the pascal blockchain, the AbstractMem library enables the development of very complex and memory-consuming data structures in a way that it consumes a very small part of the actual memory of the device itself. This will enable highly complex pascal blockchain applications to work on incredibly low-end devices with RAM capacity as low as 1 (one) gigabyte.

AbstractMem library uses a mix of "memory" and "disc" storage with a cache process so the developer does not need to know where data is, neither does he need to know how to store the data on disc or recover, because library is designated to use same load/save function calls for "on memory" that "on disc". The AbstractMem library when used for developments (on pascal blockchain) disperses data storage in such a way that only a small fraction of the data is stored on the actual device memory.

In Pascal blockchain, the usage of the AbstractMem library allows users to run a full pascal coin node in any low requirements hardware like 1 Gb RAM and few free Gigabytes on disc.

With the AbstractMem library, Pascal’s SafeBox with a size of about 800mb can be accessed using a maximum of 200mb. The AbstractMem is currently in beta testing stage and will be released as part of the proposed upgrade to the existing V5.3.

In synergy, these numerous technologies powering the pascal blockchain enables the development of lightweight applications on top of the pascal blockchain. The Pascal blockchain unarguably sets the pace for other blockchain projects when it comes to developing memory-friendly applications as well as a flexible and efficient blockchain.
