It's not Mike Pondsmith's world.
Our planet in 2082 has gone through hell and remains stalled there.
The aesthetic and story ideas are inspired--in part--by BLADE RUNNER and BLADE RUNNER; 2049 but the world and story goes in very different directions with a very different backstory and history.
There are three books coming, one which I expect my publisher to finish up with soon where it'll be on the shelves of Barnes & Noble amongst other retailers. The books cover the life of a character who departs from the standard trope of modern female characters in many ways.
I don't know about you, dear reader, but I have had quite enough of the Woke-Trope Stereotype of 'Strong, stunning and brave independent wahmen' types that are thin veneers for racist and misandrist agenda soapboxing.
They're not proper characters.
They're just propaganda mouthpieces with little to no real character development, or depth while frequently being 'Mary-Sue' types.
The primary character in my Cyberpunk-genre series is NOT the; 'Strong, stunning & brave independent wahmen' type.
Nor is she in any way a 'Mary-Sue'.
She's not a Misandrist. She's Hetero. She can be and is insulting and belittling to men...if provoked, otherwise she gets along with men quite well and on good terms.
This is very clear in one of the books which mainly deals with her relationship with an elderly male neighbor and helping him through some health-issues and solutions for such.
That relationship is contrasted by what happens when someone throws the wrong attitude towards her. She's Human, not a Misandrist...like anyone, if treated improperly, by anyone of any gender, things get nasty.
The main character's backstory is very, very much 'Anti-Mary-Sue'.
She's been through a lot of tragedy and trauma in her eighteen years
She is best described as;
'Predatory, sociopathic, and surprisingly Human' as opposed to 'Strong, stunning & brave'.
She is also not the 'depressed, brooding, loner-type'. She does tend to work alone, but she networks with people, friends and acquaintances very well...even enemies, at times. Yes, she has times of depression, angst and the rest of the Human experience and like a Human she passes through them.
The story 'GABRIEL' I posted here factors very intrinsically to who she is, her psychology, outlook and the core of her character in light of elements in her past and present-day life.

I will say this about her;
She is NOT 'The Chosen One'. I am sick-to-exhaustion of 'Chosen One' storylines.
She is NOT out to 'save the world'...only her little piece of it.
Her greatest vulnerability is also her greatest strength, and what makes her such a genuinely frightening woman to be on the wrong side of.
She does have cybernetic enhancements, and is coping with what such have cost her.
She has a backstory pretty heavy with Intrigue and secrets she's unaware of.
She has some unusual and unlikely friends and acquaintances.
I had planned to launch things with a short story submitted to Asimov's, however they declined it.
So, I am restoring it and putting in everything I had to slice-out to make it fit their 20 kilo-word limit.
This 'BOOK ZERO' story will give you, the audience, quite an appropriate and comprehensive introduction to the world as it is seen and experienced by the main character.
I want for you to be able to smell the scents off the vendcarts and the dozens of cuisines offered as they mingle in the chill-damp air along with the wet-street smell around you, while hearing the thrumming-rushwhirr of aerocars passing overheard along with tires on wet pavement as you see a couple of Urban Ferals scoping out their next snatch with hungrily-intense eyes to keep from starving to death under The Grey. I want you to be able to feel the hardcrypto bills in your hand as you listen to someone speaking with an accent, and in a manner, entirely and uniquely Urban Feral.
Thank-You for reading!!
I look forward to welcoming you into my world of 2082.
