My local convenience store chain pinged me on their app this morning, offering me a free product to try. They usually do this about once a week. What I picked up today was a sports drink called BioSteel, "Rainbow Twist" flavor. It was completely new to me.
The marketing is actually pretty smart, with the bright colorful packaging. It is definitely eye-catching and I could see it grabbing attention away from other products on the shelf.

In the middle of this heat wave, I decided to try the drink out. Such a drink seems to be an excellent choice on a scorching hot day. It is packaged in a carton Style container, with a plastic screw off lid (plant-based lid, according to the packaging).

The taste was surprisingly good. The drink contains no sugar and is sweetened with stevia. I have tried drinks sweetened with that natural sweetener before and did not like them, but this one was a bit different. It had a smooth, almost tropical punch flavor. It was very refreshing, especially on a 90 plus degree today like today. It's almost like a Gatorade but without the sugar.

The MSRP on this 16.7 oz drink is $2.69 - which seems a bit high to me but I guess is in line with inflated costs across the board. I probably wouldn't purchase these individually but if they came in bulk for a cheaper price per container, I would keep these in my fridge to mix things up.
I will try to post more food and drink reviews in the future, especially focusing on new products and limited edition items.
