Robarts library U. of Toronto I packed up my few belongings and headed home to Niagara Falls the week before Christmas.  I turned my room over to my good friend Tim, sweet talking the landlady.  She liked me and I’d been a good tenant there for si...

Kicked out

A beautiful campus. The last course I took before getting kicked out of Berkeley was a graduate course in silver Latin prose.  My teacher, Mr. Murgia, didn’t care about my status and let me in.  About eight of us, (the others all graduate students...

That’s my review of teachers, except for the best I’ve saved for last.  I few good ones more than compensated for a dozen mediocre ones.  And the mediocre didn’t bother me that much because I concentrated on the literature, not them.  They were...

Albrecht Durer. I made three great friends in that mezzanine during these years.  I wasn’t pouring over my books every second.  I’d look about me now and then.  The first was Bruce, an artist, ‘par excellence’.  I noticed that he’d often be sittin...

More LSD adventures

View from Mount Tamalpais. The mention of the LSD blotter acid brings back the memories of three acid trips I took that year, all outdoors and with my dorm friends from the year before.  Craig had a Volkswagen beetle and one Sunday we set out on a...

John Muir in Yosemite. I’ve been going through old papers and found my final transcript of courses and grades. First off, I’m amazed to see a number of courses I’ve completely forgotten about over the years.  I see that I took a course in comparat...

Phil, one of my best friends for years, and as you can see, stoner. Richard and Doug once tied up our very pretty, twenty-year-old, dorm manager to a chair and put her in a closet screaming for several hours.  She’d come up from the fifth floor wh...
