However, Satoshi's virtual wallet has been untouched for many years, so it is quite possible that the key to it has simply been lost. Moreover, its leading position is being challenged more and more every day, as there are already companies that have set the accumulation of Bitcoins as their goal. The most famous of them is MicroStrategy, a company that makes headlines every time just because of another purchase of a huge amount of Bitcoins. Currently, it owns the largest amount of the first cryptocurrency among all institutional investors.
MicroStrategy announces another BTC purchase
If you've been following the price of the first cryptocurrency, then of course you've noticed that Bitcoin is not in the best position right now. Since its impressive growth in the fall, the price of the first cryptocurrency has plummeted. This, in turn, means that it is the most right moment for crypto investors to buy Bitcoin. MicroStrategy seems to be of the same opinion, because today Michael Saylor, CEO of MicroStrategy, announced that his company has bought another amount of BTC.
This time, the company bought a surprisingly large amount of Bitcoins, namely 1914 BTC. At the time of purchase, the first cryptocurrency was trading at $49,229, which means that the company spent about $94.2 million on it. Now MicroStrategy owns 124,391 Bitcoins.
MicroStrategy will continue to repurchase Bitcoins
It is worth noting that MicroStrategy will not sell its holdings in the foreseeable future, as the company's policy has long been to accumulate as many coins of the first cryptocurrency as possible. The CEO believes that Bitcoin will be an integral part of the future, so all the company's investments will pay off and contribute to the development of the digital economy.
However, MicroStrategy was only able to take possession of one-tenth of Satoshi Nakamoto's fortune. However, it is quite possible that one day it will still be able to set a new record, although this will definitely not happen anytime soon.
