Welcome to Indian Sands, a wonderland of painted red rock and sand dunes, perched high on the cliffs above the magnificent and merciless Pacific Ocean. As I promised, I made my trip here. I was hoping to arrive in much less foggy conditions, but maybe tomorrow the sun will burn away enough of this floating milk so as to give some deserved justice to the scene.
I have lived here on the Oregon Coast, off and on, since I was in High School and it truly is beautiful here. The weather is never too bad as long as you can handle a little rain. Well, a lot of rain in the winter. One of the two major college football teams in Oregon is franchised the Oregon Ducks. This is self-explanatory. However, it is certainly not all rain and fog. When the sun sheds its warm and inviting rays on these diverse and breathtaking cliffs and beaches, it is a sight to behold, and cherish, and repeat. The wonderment that one can experience here does not a thing to underrate. For over 17 years I have looked upon this paradise and never found a moment of dissatisfaction with the landscape. The power of the ocean and the intricate design of the weathered rocks make it, to me, a sanctuary. Even in the most violent of storms, there is a sense of inner tranquility, as the enormous, crashing waves remind me of just how small that we really are.
When I took these photographs, my girlfriend, Audra, and our, small, but remarkably dangerous little Jack Russel Parsons by the name of Spencer, had just driven South from Coos Bay, Oregon. We dipped into California for a bit and then headed back up to Brookings, OR where we used the public showers down in the port. Honestly, I should have photographed the port as well but it's been photographed so much I'm surprised that every ship in the Harbor isn't named **Cheese**.
Anyway, I hope that you enjoy the few photos that were taken. I think that we will either return tomorrow if there is sun to capture more areas. It is one of my favorite spots to go in this area, but if the sun does not allow I suppose that I will find something else to do!
