What's wrong with Publish0x and the content here

There are a few things that have bugged me here on Publish0x and I wanted to take a moment to express them to you all and the community at large. Some are not fixable by the Publish0x team and I think some are so here we go.

Quality of Content:

Look I am not the most eloquent writer on the planet and I make mistakes in my grammar and verbiage, sure. But there are some articles that get posted that are just complete trash to be honest and need to be removed. I feel like there should be a feature for users to rate articles and not just thumbs up or down and not with tips. Like a behind the scenes system to weed out all the crap that gets posted here. Say for example there is a post by someone that has no content but is just all their affiliate links. We should be able to just select that article as spam and then the mods will take a look and possibly remove it.

It could also be a tool just for authors, so that we are more inclined to keep the crap out of Publish0x and only keep the good articles. I understand that it would require more work from the Publish0x team which means it probably won't happen but I can dream can't I?

Repeated Article / Copycat posters:

Now I have noticed this one for a while now. There are so many people who only post articles that other people have posted about. This happens especially when a new Brave Browser feature is published everyone and there mother want to post an article about it and get a few cents in tips. And why I don't think we should restrict to only have a certain amount of articles about a certain topic it is still annoying.

Please don't think that I think I am some high and mighty writer that thinks everyone is only copying my content and blah blah blah. No and to be honest I probably have posted an article about something that was already posted. I do try to search Publish0x about something before I post it and if there is already a really good article about it I won't post the same thing.

But last night I wanted to do a little experiment. I was searching Publish0x for anything related to the TAP Network and nothing came back. Not a single article or tag. I knew it was not a well known topic around here. So I wrote my article about how Brave Software partnered with the TAP Network to let you use your BAT to buy gift cards from thousands of retailers. I was quite pleased with my Cover Image if I'm being honest :)

So I posted it and went to bed last night. It had 44 views and I think $0.12 in tips. You can see it here. Now when I woke up it had like 800 views and $1.64 in tips. That's not bad at all by my standards. I have 300 some followers (which I love you guys, thank you so much). So anytime I get an article over 300 views I am happy, the tipping is a bonus really. And my article was 4th on the list of popular articles on Publish0x. Then I started work and checked the popular articles again and saw a different article about the same topic and I didn't see mine. I searched Publish0x and found 2 similar articles. One was posted 2 hours after mine and the other was posted 5 hours after mine. I mean that is a little to close to be a coincidence right? Unless me and 2 other people were researching the exact same thing at the exact same time...

The lesson to this is that if you post on Publish0x people WILL copy your stuff and re-post it. It is just what it is. Both of the people who posted the similar articles have more followers than me (around 500 and 1,400 followers). So as the day goes on those 2 articles are going to get more publicity than mine. To me that's fine because I wrote something original and people seemed to like it. But I can guarantee you that before the day is over there is going to be way more articles over the same exact thing. If you are new to writing here be prepared for not a lot of publicity (popular page). Write articles for the readers and because it's something you like to do. If not you are going to spend way to much time chasing after tips.

Text Editor for writing articles:

The first "programming" language I learned growing up was HTML. I wanted to write my own websites and so I thought I should learn HTML. (2nd programming language I learned was PASCAL). So when I started to write articles here on Publish0x I was a little disappointed by the text editor that was available. Sure it's okay and gets the job done, but there is so much more I wish I could do with my text than what is available.

Crypto's for tipping:

This might be an unpopular opinion based on other articles I read here but I do NOT think there should be more currencies added to the tipping pool. Dai, HYDRO and BAT are awesome tokens to tip with and to receive. Now I have seen people requesting the ability to tip with our own funds. I think that would be interesting if we could use our own funds to tip with after we ran out of our daily allotment. For example if I find a new article written by a new author and it is a really good article I want to be able to give them a moral boost to keep writing.

Crypto Sections:

I wish there was more sections to pick from then the ones we have had for a while.

What I mean is the different tokens at the top of the page. I wish there was a few more added or even possibly a scroll-able list of way more options. How is there not a Tezos section up there? And the really surprising omissions to me is Dai and HYRDO (I personally with TFUEL/THETA was up there too). I think those sections have been way to stagnant and need a breath of fresh air.

A little more transparency:

I have started to see a lot more articles posted here about how to write great posts and get a lot of tips. People are claiming how to get to the popular section and what the "Publish0x Algorithm" is. I am not stupid enough to think that the Publish0x team should tell all of us exactly what the algorithm is and how to make sure our posts gets to the popular section but posting an article at 14 minutes and 12 seconds past the hour. But I think there needs to be a little more transparency in how the popular sections gets.. well populated. I would wager a bet it was mostly to do with how many followers a author has and how many views a article gets but I could be way off base.

How do you rate this article?
