Publish0x and Upland are running a writing contest about what next city should be added into the game. Well lucky for me I was given an audio transcript of one of Upland’s employees recent trips to Detroit, Michigan. I have transcribed the audio for you in text below for your reading pleasure.
Why should I tell you reasons why Detroit should be the next city when I can just give you the lost transcript from an Upland employee themselves!
Scene: Geoff is violently woken up when the plane comes down in a hard landing on a runway that doesn’t look like he imagined it would.
Geoff: Where are we? (he asks to anyone listening)
Nancy: The captain said a little while ago on the intercom that we had to make an emergency landing in Toledo due to air pressure issue within the airplane.
Geoff: My gosh, that’s scary. But where is Toledo?
Nancy: Bumblef*ck Ohio!
Geoff: Great, just great. Did he say when the plane taking off again?
Nancy: Yeah, it’s going to be at least 3 days while they fix the plane. They don’t have any extra planes this big here.
**intercom** Sorry about that landing ladies and gentlemen. But we landed safely and once everyone has deboarded the plane, maintenance will begin on it. Please see the ticket counter when you exit the plane to speak about Hotel accommodations. Sorry for the inconvenience.
After waiting for what seemed like hours it was Geoff’s turn in line to speak to the airline employee helping with hotel accommodations.
Airline Lady: Good evening sir.
Geoff: Good Evening? This is a freaking terrible evening!! Why would you say good evening?
Airline Lady: Well, I have some good news for you. I just got the last spot at the motel down the street to the person before you. So that next place we are booking people at is the Marriot Renaissance Downtown Hotel. It’s nice sir, I am sure you will love it there for the next three days.

Geoff: I guess that goods news. What is there to do around there? Since I am stuck here for 3 days.
Airline Lady: I have a friend that works at the hotel. I will contact him to make sure you have things to do. He knows everything about the city so he will be able to help you. His name is Tony. I will call a taxi to take you there.
Geoff: Thanks, I guess…

Day 2 of recording
--------------------
Geoff: I guess I need to find this Tony guy now. I am going to just ask the front desk
long pause of silence
Geoff: Excuse me sir, I am looking for a Tony. Do you know a Tony that works here?
Bob: Why yes, I do. Let me go get him. Can I ask who is asking for him?
Geoff: Sure, my name is Geoff. I was in at the Toledo airport last night and the airline lady said she knew Tony and wanted me to meet up with him.
Bob: Well, you are in luck, just hold on one minute while I get Tony.
Tony: Good morning sir, my name is Tony how can I help you?
Geoff: Hi, my name is Geoff and..
Tony: Ohh Geoff I have been waiting for you. I heard you wanted to tour of the city!
Geoff: Well, I guess I just wanted to know things to do around here as I have no idea what there even is to do here
Tony: Follow me, I will give you a personal tour of everything Toledo has to offer!
*Tony and Geoff get into Tony’s car and leave the parking lot*
Tony: Do you know why Toledo was named Toledo? It was named after Toledo, Spain
Geoff: That’s interesting I guess
Tony: Yep it is, right next door here we have the Imagination Station. It is a STEM hands on learning center for people of all ages to explore. It is really a fun thing to do here in downtown Toledo.
Over there you can see Huntington Center. It’s a huge arena that hosts our minor league hockey team the Walleye’s. It also has been home to pretty famous people like Lil’ Wayne, Elton John, Daughtry, Janet Jackson and Jeff Dunham.
Geoff: Oh wow I didn’t know Toledo got that many famous people here.
Tony: Oh yeah and did you know the actor who played Corporal Maxwell Kilnger on M*A*S*H was from here and he would make references to our famous hotdog place “Tony Packo’s” and our minor league baseball team the Mudhens?
Geoff: No, I can’t say I knew that.
Tony: This is Fifth Third Field where the Mudhens play and actually right there next to it is Tony Packo’s

Tony: And here is the Libbey Glass Factory. Did you know that Toledo is called Glass City?
Geoff: Nope, can’t say that I knew that. How about we just assume that I know absolutely nothing about Toledo?
Tony: haha okay I think I can handle that. Toledo is a massive Glass producer and Libbey is one of the biggest around. I am willing to bet that your cups at home have the word Libbey stamped on the bottom. They are a household name nobody really knows about.
And Toledo also is the Headquarters of Owens Corning
Geoff: Now that name sounds familiar. What does Owens Corning do?
Tony: Do you remember the commercial for pink insulation that has the Pink Panther as the mascot? That is Owens Corning!

Geoff: No Way!! I never would have guessed the Pink Panther insulation was from Toledo!

Tony: Oh yeah well, I got one better. You see that huge building over the river? That is the Jeep Headquarters of the world.
Geoff: I wondered why I have seen so many Jeeps here and so many Police cars are Jeep’s as well.
Tony: Yep, that’s true. Jeep has been a real backbone to the Toledo economy. Also, do you remember those Willy’s Jeeps from World War 2? Most of those were made in Toledo. There are two Jeep production facilities here. There is also a General Motors plant here to make their transmissions.

Geoff: Tony I got to be honest with you. I never thought Toledo would have this much History and popular things to its name.
Tony: Yep, a lot of people don’t give Toledo enough credit! The city is even in talks to become an Hyperloop station for between Chicago and NewYork. It will let people in Toledo get to Chicago in 15 minutes. It takes 4 hours to drive there by car.

Geoff: Okay Tony what the deal here?
Tony: What do you mean Geoff? What is the deal with what?
Geoff: You know way too much stuff about your city than a normal citizen. Why did the lady at the airport tell me to find you? Do you even work at the Hotel?
Tony: It’s funny you should ask. I work for the city of Toledo and I write and update our Wikipedia page constantly. I love history and love to tell anyone who will listen.
Geoff: You know if your looking for a new gig my company is hiring people like you….. I was supposed to be in Detroit today checking it out for a future location for my company but now I am going to tell the board that we should move into Toledo instead!
**audio cuts off…..**
See so you don't have to take my word for it. You can just see what Geoff had to say and that is why Toledo should and will be the next location in Upland.
Totally forgot to add my favorite spot. Here is a picture of me at my favorite spot. It is a little bell in the downtown area with me peeping over the stone fence. It is called the Steel Alloy School Bell. It is at an intersection so I would look to purchase this lot so I could own the cute little bell!
