Turmeric , also known as the orange - yellow dust that makes curry or rice or whatever have the same color. As you see in the picture , turmeric comes from a root almost identical to the ginger root with the only difference being its color. It is used in cooking for  thousand of years, especially in Asia, India to be precise where it comes from, but is also used as a medicine in Ayurveda ( Indian medicine studies also known as the science of awesome potions or elixir magic ). Another use of turmeric is to dye things because of its color.

Turmeric wide range of health benefits constantly surprises researchers. These benefits include

  • anti-inflammation
  • decreased cancer risk
  • detoxification
  • improved kidney function
  • improved cognitive function
  • improved blood sugar balance

Few grams(1-2) a day should be more than enough to make you get those benefits.

Curcumin, a substance found in turmeric is an ingredient in many supplements despite the fact that it is hard to be absorbed in the blood, and for that reason these supplements also contain piperine, another substance which is found in black pepper which increases the rate of curcumin absorption dramatically, making piperine go hand in hand with curcumin.

Curcumin is also fat soluble ( goes great with fatty food , dairy for example ), while, rice, stews, and marinade for meat , especially chicken are the most common ways turmeric is used in food. While it's flavor is thought to be bitter, it's not that prominent on it's own.

As with every single thing that is consumable, turmeric comes with it's own set of side effects , though they are not even remotely dangerous these may include problems with iron in your blood , infertility and certain disorders of the stomach. So if you plan to incorporate turmeric in your diet , as you do with your crypto DYOR ;)
