Anyone can offend Dima, but if you try to calmly understand the figure of Dmitry Medvedev, without extremes, you get a pretty interesting picture.
I'll say right away that whether you agree or not is up to you, it's just my thoughts.
When Putin was unable to seek a third consecutive term in 2008, Medvedev became a kind of compromise:
loyal, without his own power base, with the image of a more "soft" and modern politician.
That is, he was not initially an independent leader of the country, and it was clear to many.
At the same time, it cannot be said that he did not decide anything. During his term, there were quite specific initiatives, a desire for modernization and "innovation" (the Skolkovo project), an attempt to reduce dependence on raw materials, attempts to soften legislation on political parties, a more open style of communication, and talks about a rule of law.
But none of these initiatives were brought to a systemic breakthrough, the power structures and elites remained beyond his control. The scope for his actions was very limited.
On the one hand, he really had the potential to become a good president.
Under him, for example, public services in electronic form began to really develop.
And even in his foreign policy, there was an attempt to build more relaxed relations with the West, without constant pressure. Under his leadership, the country embarked on a policy of rapprochement with Europe and the transition to a visa-free regime.
Besides everything, he was an active Internet user, he was somehow closer to the people and knew better what was happening in the country, unlike some.
But on the other hand, it all comes down to the main point: he was not independent, he could not control the entire system and could not change it. Actually, he didn't really show such a desire.
In general, while there was an opportunity, he played the role of a softer, modern face of power. When the framework narrowed, he adapted to the new reality and began to speak a completely different language.
Well, what else can he do now that he has been pushed to the margins of the political arena, except after another victory over Finland in the kitchen to write game on the Internet in order to delete it in the morning. Maybe even he understands everything perfectly well, but there's nowhere else to go. Therefore, it is better to pretend to be Dima...not to be touched.
