Sagres is a charming village that has one of the most stunning landscapes of the Algarve. It has steep cliffs, an interesting fortress blasted by the wind and excellent beaches.

In Sagres, temperatures are a bit milder than in the rest of the Algarve, and summers are cool thanks to the Atlantic winds.

Throughout this coastal area you will find lots of surf and diving schools, as well as companies that take boat trips and hire equipment for surfing, body boarding, diving and other interesting activities. With a south (Mediterranean) coast and a west coast (Atlantic), the quantity and diversity of the beaches offer great conditions for the practice of nautical sports.

This city was transformed into a new city fortified by Henry the Navigator, who also built here a semi-monastic navigation "school" specializing in cartography, astronomy and shipbuilding, which was one of the main drivers of the Age of Discovery Portuguese.
