The Romantic Museum of Quinta da Macieirinha, in Porto, is located in the vicinity of the Palácio do Cristal Gardens, surrounded by impressive greenery and with a breathtaking panoramic view over the Douro River of Porto.

This house reconstructs a bourgeois dwelling a few centuries ago, whose interiors refer to the artistic and literary movement of romanticism. The exiled Carlos Alberto, king of Piedmont and Sardinia, was installed here until his death. And much of his day-to-day life is still depicted with objects, paintings and exposed furniture.

The Italian monarch left numerous traces throughout the city of Porto as he was already accommodated in the former Pensão do Peixe, in Praça dos Mercadores, today known as Praça Carlos Alberto. The Carlos Alberto National Auditorium was also named after him. When you enter the Romantic Museum of Quinta da Macieirinha you are faced with a living room, with a passage to a leisure space for the gentlemen of the time, where there is a pool table in the center, and walls decorated with frescoes on stucco.

In the dining room, the contrast between the white ceilings, carefully worked, with the curtains and the walls in magenta is noticeable. The table is set up as if it were going to receive visitors at any time. For the ladies, there was a small leisure room, in shades of blue, where a conversation stand out that enhanced the dialogue.

It is a place to appreciate a little of the history of the city of Porto and also the vestiges of the time of romanticism, in it.

A beautiful museum that I advise you to visit.
