Located on the north bank of the Douro River, in the municipality of Gondomar and in the district of Porto, the Melres beach extends, forming the Melres River Beach.
The Fluvial Beach of Melres, next to the Douro River is very popular during the summer, perhaps because it offers a magnificent landscape. This beach has an extensive beach, is guarded during the bathing season, has a First Aid Station, WC and Bar. In the surrounding area there are parking lots, green spaces and a playground.
Casa Rocha is an almost mandatory stop for those who enjoy good "pataniscas" typical Portuguese food, but to make the most of the beach day it is best to take farnel and use the grills and picnic tables installed under the pines.
Melres, together with Medas, constitute the Union of Parishes of Melres and Medas that belong to the municipality of Gondomar - district of Porto. In addition to the Fluvial Beach of Melres, there are two other fluvial beaches in the municipality of Gondomar, the Fluvial Beach of Lomba and the Fluvial Beach of Zebreiros.
