Get paid to review your favorite software!

Hello everyone!

It's been a while since I last shared a way to get some extra cash for little work, which is the whole point of this blog... I usually talk about crypto earnings here, but today we'll talk actual dollars. So, without further ado, let me introduce you to Capterra!

What is that?

In a few words, Capterra is a software listing and review platform. Entirely free, the website lists pretty much all the softwares (downloadable as well as SaaS) that exist in more than 700 categories. So, whether you're looking for a new CRM, a project management tool, an email marketing software or something to help you with accounting, you'll most likely find it there. Each product comes with a description, a link to the official website, a comparison tool to see how it compares to similar tools, and user reviews, and that's why it fits in this blog.

If you've ever used a software, you can probably write a review about it. It takes about 5 minutes using their form. You just need to give some information about you, your company, how long you've been using the software for, and then you will be prompted a list of features of the website and will be asked to rate each of them (giving it a 1 to 5 star rating). Finally, you'll be able to actually write down what you like and don't like about the product, and that's it, fairly simple right? Well, the best part is, for some of these reviews, you might actually get paid!

I first heard of Capterra when a software I use for my business (SignRequest, if you don't know it you can read my post about it here) invited me to write a review for them and get a $10 gift card. I did not know Capterra at all and thought it was just a one time thing, but then I started receiving emails from Capterra about more incentive review programs, and now we're here!

Okay... So how do I get paid?

The first thing you need to keep in mind is that not all reviews are eligible for an incentive. There are 2 conditions to meet for you get some cash when you write a review: first the review has to be part of an incentive program (either Capterra will advertise it, saying "hey, come review this to get a gift card!" or you can be prompted by a partner software to write a review for them, like I was), and then the review has to be approved and published. To make sure this happens, just keep it honest, sincere and polite and you should be fine.

After your review has been approved, you will receive an email directing you to a page where you can claim your prize. Depending on the program you participated in, the rewards will vary, but I have never seen anything less than $5 for a review, which is clearly worth it considering how easy it is to write a review!

You have several options to use your rewards:

  • Donating it to charity.
  • Claiming a store gift card. They offer gift cards for several stores, but be careful though, the gift cards are only usable in the US. For example, the Amazon gift card can only be spent on the US version of Amazon, keep that in mind!
  • Claiming a Mastercard gift card. This is where it gets interesting, for you can get a Mastercard debit card, virtual or physical, to use your prize. This allows you to spend it anywhere, everywhere and however you want. the card will typically be valid for about 6 months, so plenty of time to spend this easily earned cash!

So there you have it, you should definitely keep an eye out for Capterra incentive programs, as this is a very easy way to get rewards that you can actually use however you want! And, apart from the rewards, Capterra is a great tool to help you choose the perfect software for your projects.

/!\ Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Capterra at all, this is just my very own personal opinion about a tool I use and enjoy using.
