Leading a healthy lifestyle used to be a common. However recently the as we are all quarantined due to COVID-19, America’s obesity problem has turned into an Epidemic within the Pandemic. What are some of the factors behind this obstacle? Should we blame fast food companies for providing cheaper options that are packed full of fat and sugar, and delivered right to your door? We could say it’s the governments fault, or the low economy forcing people to eat this way, because it’s all they can afford. Is it because we as Americans are lazy? We would never want to hurt our pride by saying it’s due to our own laziness...when in reality, it probably is. The Truth of the matter, the truth no one is telling you, is there is no right answer.  Whether it’s the way our body’s hormones and genes react, or outside factors, there’s no ONE reason behind obesity, it’s a mixture of all things combined.

Over the years, humans lifestyle’s have changed drastically. Everything is measured with time, and we never seem to have enough of it. Even in the middle of a quarantine, We get up exhausted in the morning, from not having enough sleep, we get ready go. We don't cook a healthy breakfast. Lunch time rolls around and since you don't feel like cooking, you’ll be ordering a large greasy pizza, and two more coffees from Uber-Eats just to get you through the day. You're so pent up, you run around inventing errands. Pay bills, go through the drive-through, bank, and post office, and since it’s getting pretty late mind as well grab some Chinese dinner. Your family enjoys your calorie packed-high sodium meal, and spend the remainder of the night in front of the TV watching other people get fit on the Biggest Loser. You’re bloated, uncomfortable, and regretting your days food choices, so tomorrow you’ll be making some changes. Or, next Monday because diets couldn’t possibly start on any other day of the week right?

This is the struggle of many Americans, fast food convenience, no where to go but home, and no will power to cook for themselves. But, just a few simple changes throughout the week could have a dramatic effect. However with the quarantine still in effect many Americans are struggling making these simple changes possible. With most of the country locked in their homes, and food shortages growing, there isn't many options besides delivery. As more time passes and we grow used to being served fast food, as kids grow up in a world where the only option is Door Dash or Uber-Easts, it is clear the American Obesity problem is and will be growing Epidemic for many years to come.
