The Founders of Cardano and Litecoin Discuss a Cross-Chain Project

  • At the initiative of Charles Hoskinson, Cardano and Litecoin could work together to implement a joint project.
  • Although there are still no details on the objective of possible cooperation. However, if the crypto-community assumptions are correct, cooperation could focus on the MimbleWimble protocol.

Yesterday, IOHK CEO Charles Hoskinson expressed his desire to work with Charlie Lee and Litecoin . As noted by the inventor of Cardano , a cross-blockchain project could be carried out to allow communication between the two cryptocurrencies. Hoskinson wrote via Twitter: @SatoshiLite it would be great to do something together. I love the idea of testing communication between channels between Litecoin and Cardano . We have lots of ideas and I'm sure you will too.

Litecoin inventor Charlie Lee, also known by the synonym "SatoshiLite", was enthusiastic about the idea and wrote "Sure" and shared a photo with the text "Call my people". Asked by Hoskinson who he could contact, Lee wrote that David Schwartz, the project director of the Litecoin Foundation , would be happy to be available for an exchange of ideas.

Cardano and community litecoin have reacted very positively to the announcement. However, it is still unclear what cooperation between the two projects might look like. Probably the most obvious are atomic exchanges to allow direct exchange between ADA and LTC . In the crypto-community, however, it is also suspected that MimbleWimble could be at the center of possible cooperation.

David Burkett, the developer of Grin ++, is currently developing Litecoin's MimbleWimble protocol to give the network more confidentiality and fungibility. To this end, two proposals to improve Litecoin (LIP), LIP-0002 and LIP-0003, were published at the end of October last year, the first of which implements the "extension blocks" necessary to integrate MimbleWimble as option. in version in the Litecoin protocol .

LIP-0003 implements MimbleWimble and gives Litecoin a private coin function. MimbleWimble (MW) uses "confidential transactions" for this, which allow senders to encrypt the number of documents to be sent and the addresses. This greatly improves Litecoin's data protection and at the same time increases its scalability.

As announced a few days ago, the development of MimbleWimble is progressing well. As Burkett wrote via Twitter, the development of a testnet release in mid-September is still on schedule.

However, it remains to be seen if any cooperation really revolves around MimbleWimble. As Charles Hoskinson said in his tweet, the joint possibilities for cooperation are endless.
