Hey everyone and welcome back to my Splinterlands blog!

When I started grinding my ranked battles this morning I quickly found out this wasn't the best time playing in Modern right now, for some reason there were ONLY max level decks matched up against me in Gold 2, and this was the result...

So, I switched to my Frontier matches.. when I have enough time I try to grind both and get the maximum daily rewards, yesterday I received a really nice pack with the big legendary tree guy in it, it's a pain to get through so much health so it's definitely a carry card on it's own, I was really glad to finally earned it!

This morning the good packs continued, and I got this:

I'm playing Frontier on my main manual account and some alt account when I have enough time, when you've got past Bronze it gets a lot more fun because more rulesets are added and even with the limited amount of cards in the Frontier set, it's still a lot of fun, good job to the team!

Blogging rewards new goal

So, with the blogging rewards I received for my posts in the last weeks, I bought Mantaroth and it's awesome! There are always wishes for Splinterlands players so my new goal is...

Calamity! It has a lot of HP for only 4 mana and a potent magic attack, I'm not using bloodline Archons so I can't use it to it's full potential but having two dragon Archons, I can still put it to good use.
I only need a level 1, the price has increased a bit since I last checked... I probably still need a week to get to $6 so hopefully the price stays this way or drops a bit again.

Oh and I have to give a shout out to my buddy @cherokee4life, he just made my blogging life easier with a markdown tip, before I was using the < center > and < /center > codes to center images, but it can be done with taking some of the code away, thanks for the tip mate!

Todays Combo Chronicles...

On with the main topic for this post and enough small talk... the combo I want to share for this post is one I just discovered yesterday because I had just level up the card, it's combining Shock Trooper's ZAP with Torrent Sniper's Painforge ability, creating a very potent magic sniper which gives me Captain Katie vibes but without the Bloodlust.

The battle I want to share for this post is one from about 17 hours ago, I played it yesterday evening while grinding my battles having a lot of fun, it's a 41 mana Modern League - Healed Out battle with only the Water, Earth and Life splinters open to choose from. With enough mana available to go with my favorite line-up Elias / Slade protected by a unit with the *Flank* ability in the first position but, that's not the only great synergy in my team...

First look at the battlefield:

I could see in the previously played battles my opponent had a max frontier magic archon which even in Modern is pretty powerful.
With the Death splinter locked out I didn't have a lot of options to silence the enemy team so I choose to use a unit with Void Armor in the front, and a sneak unit with the Silence ability, nullifying the boost the Frontier Archon gives.

This shows that play a certain line-up too much WILL get you countered when facing experienced players, and I don't think there are a lot of inexperienced players in Gold and up... 😁

My Line-Up:

• Archon: Elias Max Pruitt - reason: Great synergies available.
• First position: Silverblade Fighter - reason: Void Armor to somewhat slow down the magic attacks.
• Second position: Commander Slade - reason: Devastating double attack with Elias's tactics.
• Third position: Daigendark Surveyor - reason: Filler card, I had two mana left - just a meat shield.
• Fourth position: Boring Hobgoblin - reason: Silence to weaken the enemy's magic attacks.
• Fifth position: Shock Trooper - reason: High magic damage, the ZAP will trigger Painforge.
• Sixth position: Torrent Sniper - reason: Magic Sniper with Painforge.

The Battle:

Round 1: Good only one unit on the other team received the Bloodline Tribute, it's the new Martyr we used to have in the old modern rotation. Already the enemy tank is killed but there's still a secondary tank I have to get through.

Round 2: WOW that's a fast way to shred through a enemy team 😁 bye bye!

Round 3: Shock Trooper made the final kill because Slade missed, strange with the 6 - 2 speed advantage but it happens. In this fight, because it was a quick one Torrent Sniper 'only' got up to 4 damage, in longer fights this increases even more.
I still have to find out what it will do when I heal the Torrent Sniper... interesting!

The SPS rewards aren't great yet, it varies from day to day but I'll take it, last weeks the SPS rental market prices have been increasing so it's important to be self sufficient in owning enough SPS, because I'm running multiple accounts, I need a lot!

Well, that's it for this week, hopefully I will earn some up votes again so I can start to enjoy Calamity in my battles.

The sun has started to shine, and with my Frontier daily rewards earned on all accounts and my Modern energy at 20 I can wait until the match ups get better until later today or even tomorrow, it's time to enjoy a little sunshine with a nice walk!
