Hi everyone and welcome back to my Splinterlands blog, where I will be talking today about one of my favourite cards, but it wasn't like this always!
For the Splinterlands - Social Media Challenge, we can pretty much make a post about everything as long as it's Splinterlands related, most of the times I make explainer posts for starting players or posts with helpful tips and tricks, I was out of tips for this weeks so something else!
But first, if you want to know how you can enter this challenge yourself, you can check out the Splinterlands post here.

I want to share my love for one of the new soulbound legendary reward cards, the Drybone Raider, when I first pulled it, I was like.. ok... nice to pull a legendary but at level 1 it's not that special, and I didn't used him a lot, on some high mana battles I got him in Life setups with general sloan to be kind of a new Axe Master 2.0 that was nice.
Then I pulled another copy of him, and another! So now I can bring him to level 2 and it gets a while different story.

At level 2, the maximum level I can play it with my high Silver League deck it gets 1 extra archery damage and the Shatter ability, which is awesome and in Silver overlooked by many players I think. Of course now Immortalis now brings shatter so we see it more.
With rulesets where it can attack with it's melee attacks from the backline too it's one of the best cards.
- Equal Opportunity
- Melee Mayhem
- Super Sneak
Above are all rulesets in when the mana cap allows it, I'll try to include him in my teams.
“Drybone Raiders have a fondness for war unlike anything I've ever seen before. They are boisterous and quick to anger, turning to battle at every opportunity. Yet when they gather in their war parties, it is quite overtly and without any firm strategy, making them easy to deal with for any tactician with the wit and patience to plan."
— Shezahr the Eternal Diviner, Praetorian Historian and Philosopher.
But we want to see action, right!?
Of course, what is a post without proof of battle and glory!

So for this post I like to share my battle with the Equal Opportunity ruleset, 40 mana is the maximum and only the Water, Earth and Dragon splinters are open. While in most Equal Opportunity battles I go for Kelya, because it gives speed and armor, I saw my opponent likes to play Alric a lot with magic teams, so I went for another strategy.
Improvise, Adept, Overcome.
And I was right in anticipating my opponents team selection, it was Alric again, good thing I had the perfect counter for his magic monsters with Immortalis, another card my love needed to grow for, to be honest, when I bought Immortalis, I regretted it the first weeks, but sometimes you just need to learn how to use certain cards.

My Line-Up:
- Summoner: Immortalis - reason: Direct counter to Alric and the magic team.
- First position: Pelacor Mercenary - reason: Flying, good speed, good damage.
- Second position: Venari Knifer - reason: Fast, good damage, thorns.
- Third position: Venari Marksrat - reason: Martyr to boost Drybone raider.
- Fourth position: Drybone Raider - reason: Dual attack, double strike so he will strike 4 (!!!) times every round.
- Fifth position: Fungus Flinger - reason: Martyr to boost Drybone raider.
- Sixth position: Djinn Biljka - reason: Camouflaged so safe for opportunity with good damage.

Looking at the other team, I don't understand why he chose the tank, for the mana there are better options I think, I was right there would be magic damage, Sandworm is a problem dealing massive melee damage.
Round #1:
So much already happened in this round, both my martyrs died like planned and HALF the enemy team is wiped out. Todays star is in beast mode now.

Damn.... he's doing 16 damage every round!!!

Round #2:
Not only the Drybone Raider but Biljka and the Venari Knifer have their stats boosted also, nice attack numbers!
At the end of round 2 only Oshannus was alive and only barely, before I could make the screenshot for round 3, Venari Knifer already dealt the killing blow.

Haha! that was over fast! 😁
You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.
