Good morning everyone and welcome back to my Splinterlands Blog, I still needed to make a Social Media Post for this weeks challenge. We are allowed to make 2 posts every week, and when you make it look good, you might get upvoted and earn some $ for example to invest in more Splinterlands cards!
Doing this every week, I'm making about $40-50 every month.
To find out more about how you can enter the challenge yourself, you can read the Splinterlands post here.
I wasn't sure what I was going to write about this week, I sometimes use the Social Media Challenge to write explainers for starting players or write about important changes in the game, like the bot ban in Modern League we recently had, and sometimes just about a certain card or battle I like.
So I was just grinding my daily ranked battles on both of my accounts, and then this battle happened where my opponent didn't even got a chance to fight back lol 😄 that doesn't happen a lot, and it was too good not to share in my opinion, that's nice about this game, it's fun, rewarding in the long run (at least, I believe it will be, no guarantees) and it's exciting every once in a while. Also, there is so much to do, writing blog posts like this one takes about 3-4 hours a week for me, grinding my battles is at least 1 hour daily, on top of that we can join brawls and tournaments for some extra SPS and juicy Gladiator cards or hunt for bargains on the card market and look for good options to expand and strengthen our decks, making bid-buys on peakmonsters for example.
To win, we need different things, to start with a nice deck to have extra benefits against your opponents, we need a clear mind as well to think about every battle, I noticed when I'm very tired, my battles don't go very well 😌. We also need to anticipate what our opponent is going to play, when we look at it's previous 5 battles and he or she is spamming the same team over and over it's easy to counter so we don't want to do that ourselves. Then we need to think about the rulesets for this battle, and what the best option are.
I think in Bronze and Silver, the Heavy Hitters ruleset, where every monster gets the Knock-Out ability gets ignored a lot and people just play it as a General ruleset without any restrictions or perks.
Using Stun in the Heavy Hitters ruleset is SO powerfull, it can wipe out the enemy team very fast so don't ignore it guys! Of course you need to buy or rent some stunners. Since Riftwatchers came out, we have a lot more reasonable affordable stun monsters, the best ones in my opinion:
- Revealer (Death)
- Technowizologist (Fire)
- Runeslinger (Life)
- Water Caller (Water)
- Uloth Dhampir (Earth)
Todays battle I want to share an my example is a 41 mana Lost Magic / Heavy Hitters battle with Water and Death locked out. Since magic is locked out and I wanted to go for maximum damage I went for the Life team.
First look at the battlefield:
Well we both went for the Life team with different summoners, I liked the extra damage with General Sloan, my opponent went for extra armor with Grandmaster Rathe.
Since magic isn't allowed, armor is very important, that's why I brought shatter to destroy it.
My plan: Stun the tank, shatter it's armor, do crazy damage when it's stunned while healing my own tank and try to keep it alive.
I think my opponent @papillll anticipated I was going to play a melee sneak team when magic is out of play so he protected against that with a shielded sneak protection in the rear and Disintegrator with demoralize on the third spot. Drawback of this is he has two cards that can't hit before they get to the first position. While Uriel the Purifier is a great card and I own it myself too, I'm not using it a lot because of it's recharge ability, I really don't like it.
My Line-Up:
- Summoner: General Slaon - reason: Extra ranged damage.
- First position: Drybone Barbarian - reason: Great damage, enrage and retaliate makes this a dangerous tank.
- Second position: Venari Crystalsmith - reason: Good ranged damage for 4 mana, tank heal.
- Third position: Supply Runner - reason: 1 extra speed for my team, good damage.
- Fourth position: Rune Slinger - reason: Stun!
- Fifth position: Pelacor Arbalest - reason: Doublestriker, a real glass cannon.
- Sixth position: War Pegasus - reason: Fast + Flying, so good sneak protection, good damage, shatter.
The Battle:
Round 1: Wow, I was amazed how well my strategy worked, in the first round, both his main tank, although well armored and with high health points as well as his second monster got killed!
Round 2: Again two monsters of the enemy team died while my full team is still standing, this is very rare for me to totally nuke my opponent like this!
Round 3: Nothing the Chaos Knight could do to prevent his death, my firepower was just too much and he got stunned too.
almost 1 SPS for this battle, the rewards in Modern League are 4-5 times higher for me now since the bot ban.
To speak with Hannibal's words... (yeah... younger people might not know who he is lol)
I love it when a plan comes together!
Well, that's it for this week, I'm going enjoy my weekend and do some more battles now I finished my posts for this week.
