Good morning everyone! I hope you're enjoying the start of your weekend, I am! It's colder and raining outside, so with a mug of coffee next to me my favorite place to be on Saturday morning, or every morning I don't have to work really is behind my PC doing Web3 things, mostly Splinterlands related such as grinding the ranked battles, submitting brawl and tournament battles, looking for bargains on the market and making posts like this one!
I made my first post for the Battle Mage Secrets challenge last Thursday, did you see it? Later on the day my friend @sifounas43 asked me to please explain how to start blogging, and I thought... I can give him the tools but when you don't know how to use them he won't be able to do anything with them, so what better way than to make an explainer post about making blogposts yourself, and so I did! How to make Splinterlands posts, step by step tutorial.
To be honest, I'm not sure if I'm eligible for upvotes with this post, because we're allowed to submit two posts for the Splinterlands challenges, the tutorial did got upvoted but I didn't submit it for the challenge, I'm not trying to break any rules here I'm just unsure if it's two upvotes for the challenges or two upvotes in general 😃, only one wat to find out I guess, and I'm enjoying blogging anyway so let's go!
This weeks Battle Mage Secrets is about the Target Practice ruleset, in which all archers and magic monsters gets the Snipe ability, meaning they'll target the first non-melee monster they see on the enemy side who isn't camouflaged of course, you can make use of this ruleset by always putting a Martyr card in the middle of your team, in fact, I feel like if you don't, you're making a mistake.
To find out how you can participate in the challenge yourself, you can find the Splinterlands post here.
The battle I want to share for this post is a 35 mana Target Practice / Lost Legendaries Wild League battle, with only the Death and Dragon splinters open to be chosen, I feel like in this case most players will play Thadius so bringing a lot of magic will get you nerfed big time, at the same time, hopefully my opponent has the same thought and therefore is going to play a lot of archers, and instead of Thadius, I'm choosing Quix to nerf the ranged damage and be able to choose monsters from both splinters.
First look at the battlefield:
Well, looking at the name, it's a bot probably, but bots use statistics, and my theory still was sound, mostly archers, high level cards though, looking at this I'm not 100% sure I'm going to win to be honest, my ranged nerf is nice, they will kill the martyr and then target Riftwing, I hope it dodges and backfires enough but the enemy cards got good speed and Supply Runner speeds them up...
My Line-Up:
- Summoner: Quix the Devious - reason: -1 ranged damage, the speed nerf is always nice too, speed kills!
- First position: Djinn Chwala - reason: Good damage, good armor and high HP, thorns.
- Second position: Venari Marksrat - reason: Martyr.
- Third position: Silent Sha-Vi - reason: Great sneaker, high speed & good damage.
- Fourth position: Riftwing - reason: This will draw most enemy fire, it's there to dodge, backfire and scavenge HP.
- Fifth position: Venari Bonesmith - reason: It's poison ability is so nice.
- Sixth position: Dhampir Stalker - reason: High ranged damage, true strike.
The Battle:
Round 1: That wasn't a bad start at all! as planned my martyr died, the poison landed right away, Riftwing dodged and the backfire killed Soul Strangler and the enemy tank is pretty hurt already, the only bad thing is my Dhampir Stalker is going to die the next turn, a slim chance Silent Sha-Vi is going to miss it's attack.
Round 2: Another dodge and backfire from Riftwing! As expected Dhampir Stalker died but so did two enemy monsters, I'll be fine!
Round 3: With Supply Runner unable to fire from the first position this is a win for sure, the thorns from Chwala alone will kill Silent Sha-Vi, it's only cleaning up now.
It's a win! pretty nice SPS rewards for Silver Wild League, Modern is so hard so I play 80% of my battles in Wild I think, lower rewards but much higher win rate equals about the same rewards and more fun.
You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.
Well this is my last bigger post this week for me, my blogging work is done, back to the ranked battles, I hope to see you again next week!
