Hello everyone and welcome back to my Splinterlands blog, last two weeks I was away so my blog & earning have come to a temporary stop for a while to enjoy my holiday but now we're back, fighting ranked play battles, guild brawls and tournaments again, speaking of tournaments, I finished 18th yesterday with a great 16 win / 5 loss score, having the exact same result as @omg-sp1, a well known name in the upper region of most tournaments so I was pretty happy with it, earning 38 SPS.
Congrats to @yaiza111 for winning the tournament without a single loss, crazy!
When you're not playing tournaments you should consider doing so when you have the time, since most tournaments are completely free to join!

This weeks Battle Mage Secrets Challenge is about the Rise of the Commons ruleset, in which only the use of common and rare cards are allowed but you can still use summoners of all rarities.

Since I started blogging two years ago I think, we've had four Rise of the Commons Battle Mage Secret Challenges so far, fun to see how my thumbnails evolved in this time 🙂
The battle I want to share for this week is a 60 mana Taking Sides / Counterspell / Rise of the Commons battle in the Wild League from quite some time ago I had saved for making a blog post with, only the Life and Death splinters are locked out. With magic reflect, speed is important to hit first and dodge melee and ranged attacks, with too many variables what to expect from my opponent I just made my best team for the job...
First look at the battlefield:
Hmm... a gold level Yodin, he's still a real pain with the increased ranged damage and blast, I hope my team is fast enough to dodge some attacks and hits hard enough to kill them before they can do serious damage...
My Line-Up:
- Summoner: Possibilus the Wise - reason: Water has fast monsters, the reach and trample are great.
- First position: Diemon Shark - reason: Good damage, good speed. Great damage when he's enraged.
- Second position: Coastal Sentry - reason: High damage, double strike.
- Third position: Demented Shark - reason: Inspire.
- Fourth position: Deeplurker - reason: High damage, good speed, opportunity and poison are very strong.
- Fifth position: Swamp Spitter - reason: Great support card, good damage, repair.
- Sixth position: Coastal Nymph - reason: Scattershot to bypass taunt, good damage.
The Battle:
Round 1: Well that's a nice start, the enemy self healing tank couldn't out heal my damage and it got killed in the first round, but my front line is hurt pretty bad already too.
Round 2: Wow, the trample ability is devastating for the other team, leaving only one monster behind, but a very though one, Tinderlock.. His last stand ability combined with the extra ranged attack makes him very dangerous, doing 8 damage every round, 14HP is pretty annoying to deal with but my team is doing 21 damage every round so I should be okay.
It's a win! This fight was from before we changed from daily chests to glint, and the SPS earnings were also lower back then.
