Hi everyone and welcome back to my weekly Splinterlands blog, the way I am making my posts normally didn't work this time lol... I keep a text file with nice battles with its rulesets and it's pretty long but.... not a single rise of the commons ruleset 😅 I guess without the spicy cards, the battles weren't worth saving so I had to keep grinding my battles until I got one and then win it because yeah... I don't want to blog about me getting my ass kicked 😝.
To find out how you can participate in the challenge yourself, and make some money out of it if you make it look good, you can find the Splinterlands post here.
This weeks ruleset is about.. the name explains itself a little but not fully - common cards, but we are allowed to play rare cards too..
Only common and rare units may be used in battles.
Summoners are unaffected by this rule.
It's nice we CAN make use of Legendary summoners, because I use them quite often, and even with the launch of Rebellion, I feel like the Legendary Chaos Legion Summoners are still very strong so it's not worth it at this time to invest in a levelled Rebellion Summoner deck, because like Riftwatchers, Rebellion is pretty expensive!
I did buy some Rebellion key cards at 1 BCX from the money I got from selling my Gold Foils I pulled out of the 10 pre-sale packs I bought, the only GF I bought back is Fenmoar Haunt, I feel like I will use him a lot in combination with other sneakers like Uraeus and Pelacor Bandit.
Todays battle I want to share is a 59 mana Reversed Speed / Rise of the Commons / Noxious Fumes ruleset, I think everyone agrees this is considered a high mana battle, I think there's nothing in between 65 and 99 mana? The Reversed Speed and Poison are way more important than the Rise of the Commons ruleset because that only limits my cards I can choose from. On most occasions with Noxious Fumes I go Fire with Forgotten One, he's immune and has retaliate, but he's epic so I had to think of another strategy, and what is the most likely path my opponent is going to choose? I picked Immortalis to protect myself against magic and to be able to shatter armor, a Fire team with Grum or a Magic Earth team with Arkemis or another big HP tank is the most likely thing my opponent is going to play.
First look at the battlefield:
So it is magic alright, both of us went for a good chunky big HP front line, but he doesn't own or didn't thought of the new Rebellion card with Immunity: Grimbardun Smith! With the Void and Immunity, I think I'm okay in this fight...
My Line-Up:
- Summoner: Immortalis - reason: Protection against magic, it's the best all-round choice now imo.
- First position: Pelacor Mercenary - reason: Good overall tank with nice HP.
- Second position: Arkemis the Bear - reason: More HP, hopefully to outlast the other team.
- Third position: Venari Marksrat - reason: Martyr.
- Fourth position: Goblin Psychic - reason: He won't last long but he's just there to heal the tanks.
- Fifth position: Mycelic Slipspawn - reason: Taunt to soak up damage.
- Sixth position: Grimbardun Smith - reason: Immunity.
The Battle:
Round 1: Not much happened but both our taunts soaking up damage. The flank from Uludin Overseer is pretty nice by the way, I didn't make use of this yet, still learning the new abilities!
Round 2: Wow! Carnage! on my team! 😅 I'm not so sure I'm going to be okay now lol!
Round 3: The poison is taking it's toll on the enemy team too now so it's a bit more even again, it looks like the Immunity is going to save me here!
Round 4: Outlasting is also a way to win! 😁
In round 6, the poison killed the entire team and I won just by surviving.
It was a Wild League battle so not much SPS as a reward, but my win rate is much higher in Wild so that's why I play both Modern as well as Wild.
You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.
That's it for this week, I'm going to look into which Rebellion cards are worth leveling up, I'm not sure whether I'll buy another 10 packs on Hive Engine, because the Airdrop chance is so small it's not worth it for small players IMO to buy in the game for the Airdrop chance, or I'll hand pick cards I want from the market.
