Hi everyone and welcome back to my Splinterlands post, where today I will be covering this weeks Battle Mage Secrets Challenge: Melee Mayhem, to find out how you can participate in the challenge yourself, you can read the Splinterlands post here.
Melee units can attack from any position.
Prime use case for melee units with Bloodlust.
Abilities take precedence where targeting is concerned, meaning Sneak and Opportunity monsters will still target their own targets instead of position 1 on the enemy team.
In most Melee Mayhem battles, I prefer to use Thorns up front but there are many strategies to play here, most players will expect a heavy melee team so they will prepare with thorns or shield as a tank, so you can also go heavy on magic damage and hit them with something they won't expect.
The battle of today I'm gonna share with you is a BIG battle, against an opponent with THE LEGIONNAIRE title and 560k power, my deck is a lot smaller with 134k power and I don't have any title 😅, it is from a few brawls ago and I thought it was worth saving this one for future blogging use.
It is a pretty big Melee Mayhem / Scattershot / Stampede battle with 57 mana to be used and only Fire and Dragon are allowed. The difficult thing with brawls is, you can't see any previous played teams so you don't have any clue what your opponent like to play or can see the card levels he has, so it's just assembling your best possible team and kick some ass!
First look at the battlefield:
Well we both wanted access to the dragons! Tara would have been nice for the +1 melee damage but with this high mana count, I prefer dragon, they are fast, powerful and expensive, both in Dollar value as in mana. Chaos Dragon with the blast at level 2 is so strong, I love it! Unfortunately my opponent has one too...
My Line-Up:
- Summoner: Quix the Devious - reason: Access to the Dragons
- First position: Djinn Chwala - reason: Thorns, good damage, good armor.
- Second position: Agor Longtail - reason: Two attack types, very good with this ruleset.
- Third position: Fina Voxom - reason: Opportunity and Bloodlust, perfect combination.
- Fourth position: Fire Caller - reason: Good ranged damage, martyr.
- Fifth position: Chaos Dragon - reason: So many! Good magic damage, blast with scattershot, high HP, flying...
- Sixth position: Tenyii Striker - reason: Good damage, dodge.
The Battle:
Round 1: Although there's a LOT of power on the battlefield, no one died just yet the first round, Tenyii Striker dodged a hit that made him survive this round.
Round 2: The enemy Fire Caller died, boosting Chaos Dragons stats, I think it would have been better if he placed it between Arkemis and Chaos Dragon but I'm not complaining! My Djinn Chwala died also, Grum is hitting HARD.
Round 3:
Fina Voxom made a kill on Naga Assassin, boosting her stats with bloodlust, my Fire Caller died too, boosting Fina Voxom again, as well as Chaos Dragon. Grum died too.
Round 4: Most of the battles I use for my blogs don't get further as round 3, but this battle of the Titans does! None died this round but they're fighting hard.
Round 5: Almost at the end of this round, the whole enemy team was killed, but not before my Tenyii Striker was killed as well, great fight!
That was it for this weeks Battle Mage Secrets Challenge! I hope to see you again on next weeks challenge or on my Social Media Challenge post I still need to make, but I think that's one for this weekend.
