Hi everyone, this is my entry for this weeks Battle Mage Secrets, if you're a splinterlands player yourself, you can check out the splinterlands post how to get in to the challenge yourself.

Today I wanted to talk about the Equalizer ruleset in which all monsters start with the same health, based on the highest health on either team. I generally see a lot of players picking the green team with obsidian for this and spamming mass magic damage. I'm battling in Silver League, I'm sure in higher leagues the meta will be different....

To Counter this play my tactic is to use the Death team, with Thadius Brood's -1 magic debuff and placing a void tank in front and dropping a lot of life leech monsters to get those health points even higher, the result is amazing and most of the times unstopable! With equalizer battles, I want all fire to be at the front, maximizing damage to kill the monsters a.s.a.p. instead of spreading out my damage so the enemy monsters can survive another round to fire at me.

As expected, my opponent played Obsidian so that's a good start, but well... let's be honest, it's just like with most movies you know the main actor won't die, I wouldn't be sharing this if I did not win, if so it would be a poor tactic! image.png
The mana cap for this battle was 41 mana, I ended up using 39 of it.

My line up:

Thaddius Brood small.png

Summoner: Thadius Brood - The -1 magic makes him a great choice for my strategy, together with my main tank void ability I hope to make some monsters do 0 damage at the start of the battle, too bad I don't have any cards with the Silence abbility in my deck.

First position: Bone Golem - High melee damage, void ability, too bad it's so slow

Second position: Djinn Muirat - with it's void armor he basically has 15 hit points, so it's a great main or off tank to protect the rest of the team

Third position: Life Sapper - cheap card, only 3 mana with 2 magic damage and life leech

Fourth position: Venari Bonesmith - also a cheap card with life leech, less damage but with the poison ability, very good against high HP tanks, and with equalizer I'm facing high HP for sure

Fifth position: Ancient Lich - High magic damage so it leeches 2 HP every turn when it's not shooting at a voided monster

Sixth position: Soulstorm - I only recently bought this card, it was pretty expensive before, now it's better priced in the bear market, high speed, flying, great against sneakers in this setup, also high archer damage so very effective against enemy voided tanks.

Round 1

Nice enemy lineup, smart thinking to put Djinn Biljka in the second position with the void ability. Because of the high HP everyone has, not much happened in this first round, my tank getting hit while my damage was spread out between the enemy tank and the taunting Mycelic Slipspawn.

Round 2

Two enemy monsters doing 0 damage to my tank, but at the end of round 2 it died anyway, no worries because I had a good off tank to replace it, meanwhile my life leechers are growing health points.
The enemy taunt also died so now it's full focussed fire on his first position

Round 3

The poison only landed at this round, pretty late and not very effective anymore, nevertheless, the enemy tank died, I did have to face a voided monster now, good thing I brought Soulstorm to the fight. My second tank getting low in HP and will die soon. Leechers are gearing up nicely!!

Round 4

My off tank died, nothing else happened this round besides some firing to eachother

Round 5

The voided Djinn Biljka is being healed, it's a bit though to get trough, nothing happened in this round except HP getting a little lower for both first positions

Round 6

Again, the posion landed way too late, can't have luck every time, finally Djinn Biljka gave up and died, goodbye!

Round 7

The poison hits the first shot against Spirit Hoarder now, great :) still annoying that he's getting healed, maybe I should've brought my affliction archer instead of Soulstorm to counter the healing...

Round 8

25 against 47 health points! By this time, the life leechers have become huge, and too much to kill for the enemy team

Round 9

image.png

Besides some shooting, nothing happened, no one died.

Round 10

image.png

16 against 45 health points! Queen Mycellia getting healed, no one died this round also.

Round 11

image.png

Queen Mycellia died.

Round 12

Goblin Psychic healing itself, making him survive another round, but postponing the enevitable!

Round 13 FINAL ROUND

Goblin Psychic died and I won the battle.
