Hello everyone, and welcome back to my Splinterlands blog, The Battlemage Secrets challenge has shifted it's launch a little, which is a good thing because now I don't need to make two posts on the same day, one post takes me about 1 to 1.5 hour, so it's nice to spread that out a little.
If you're a Splinterlands player too and not making blogs yourself, you should consider starting this, learning something new is always cool, and it's not that hard, I made a post on how to make blog posts yourself, check it out!
Doing this every week, I'm making about $50-60 every month, the hourly wage is terrible of course, but I like doing it, and it's good to train my English since it's not my native language, it was the main reason why I didn't start earlier but then a British friend persuaded me to just try it, and over two years later here we are! 😁

This weeks Battle Mage Secrets is about the Counterspell ruleset, in which all monsters gets the Spell Reflect ability, so you won't see a lot of magic being played in this ruleset, however you can surprise your opponent by playing Immortalis and shield yourself against the magic reflect, just make sure your monsters don't do more than 2 damage. I also like to include Musa Saline in my battles for this ruleset, it shatters armor and gets health back with her scavenge ability, so she can survive the first 4 rounds in most battles.
To find out how you can participate in the challenge yourself, you can read the Splinterlands post here.

All units receive the magic reflect ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with magic receive damage back.
Damage returned is equal to the damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up.
Magic units with the reflection shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks.
The amplify ability increases damage.

The battle I want to share for this post is a 31 mana Wild League Taking Sides / Counterspell battle, with only the Fire, Death and Dragon splinter open to choose, with a low chance to get magic attackers in the opponents team, my most logical options were Quix the Devious or Astral Entity, and the most logical play my enemy would pick is Quix the Devious, since more players own Quix than Astral Entity, but in Wild League there are so many summoners and tactics to choose from, so it could also be just something completely different, my strategy was to just make a good team against Melee and Ranged damage.

First look at the battlefield:

LOL, I'm making this post on my laptop and is has a smaller screen than my desktop, so the screenshots don't capture the entire battlefield... 😆
I was right in the enemy summoner! he is nerfing two of my cards but they're still doing two damage each so that's ok...

My Line-Up:

  • Summoner: Astral Entity - reason: The dodge ability is better than the -1 ranged nerf, when you dodge there's no damage at all.
  • First position: Harklaw - reason: Shield, to halve incoming damage.
  • Second position: Silent Sha-Vi - reason: Nice and fast sneak monster, small backup tank.
  • Third position: Corpse Fiend - reason: Just a filler, and will distract opportunity monsters.
  • Fourth position: Soul Strangler - reason: Cheap in mana, good damage.
  • Fifth position: Soulstorm - reason: Fast and flying so very evasive, good damage.
  • Sixth position: Riftwing - reason: Evasive sneak protection.

The Battle:

Round 1: The first kill is made, and the damage on my team is really small, nice start, Spark Pixies is a fast and evasive card though, so hopefully Silent Sha-Vi is able to hit it since it's one of three cards in the whole team that can do damage against my tank.

Round 2: Well the dodging isn't working at all, but the Shield is doing it's job so it'll be fine, Spark Pixies is killed, the rest of the back line will follow too since they're low speed.

Round 3: The enemy tank died, and my complete team is still alive, nice! 😀

Round 4: Only one monster left, and it's pretty slow so my team can most probably kill it this turn.

Round 5: Yep, that's it, the battle is over!

You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.

That's it for this week! I already drained my energy enough for today doing my ranked battles, two weeks ago I got a nice Solana airdrop worth $123 which I used to start upgrading my deck from high Silver level to high Gold level, and it's so much fun playing my cards with all these new abilities! I am getting my ass kicked every now and then because my brain needs some time remembering all new abilities and possibilities, for example, my Pelacor Mercenary and Cursed Windeku now have the Self Heal ability, very strong in low mana battles!

I still need to do my guilds Brawl battles for my main and a few alt accounts...
