This is not snow! it is a beautiful and very tasty edible mushroom, but it is protected - Coral tooth fungus (Hericium coralloides)

    Coral tooth fungus. It is difficult to determine the shape of this mushroom, it is irregular, it looks like a weeping willow, like snow, it can be spherical, elongated. Size up to 40 cm in diameter. It consists of loose hanging twigs that branch evenly and look like small hanging icicles. The color of the mushroom at the beginning is white, slightly cream, in old age it turns yellow and brown. It looks a bit like a coral, hence the name (coralloides).

    The flesh is the same color as the whole mushroom, it is tender, spongy. Apparently, it has no palpable taste qualities, but gourmets say that it is a delicacy.

    Occurrence - it bears fruit on dead trunks of deciduous trees, especially beech trees from summer to autumn, is less and less common, in Poland it is under protection, it is on the list of endangered species.

    Value - edible and very tasty mushroom, but protected. Besides, it's a pity to eat such a beautiful mushroom.
