Stellar Donates Millions of XLM For Those Affected by Coronavirus

Stellar Development Foundation has announced that it has donated 2.5 millions Lumen to six charities to help tackle the coronavirus outbreak. The foundation also called on the community to help in times of crisis.

Some other crypto companies also donated last month to combat the coronavirus pandemic. The SDF will start each charity with 100,000 XLM donations and will use the remaining funds to match the Lumen donations made by the community.

According to the official announcement by the foundation, it plans to use active community and XLM reserves during the coronavirus outbreak. The company also announced an XLM donation matching program of April with Stellar-based Lumenthropy. The number of COVID-19 cases in the world has exceeded 1 million yesterday. The global epidemic also caused great damage to the global economy.

Stellar is not the only crypto instituion donating in this process

Blockchain company Ripple has previously announced that it will donate $200,000 combat the coronavirus outbreak. Ripple isn't the only crypto company to help fight a coronavirus outbreak in times of crisis. Binance also set up a charity fund to assist healthcare professionals.

With more than a million confirmed positive COVID-19 cases, another milestone has been reached, and the number of coronavirus deaths in the world has exceeded 50,000 yesterday. The impact of the coronavirus is also rather cruel on the global economy. More than 3.3 millions Americans have filed for unemployment so far, as the financial markets continue to collapse amid the global pandemic. More than 2 billion people worldwide face various bans.
