TOURING GREECE WITH A RENTAL CAR
For us, Greece is the ideal country to tour with a rental car. The distances are short, the routes are in excellent condition and there is nothing better than the independence of driving your own vehicle. Moreover, there are many agencies and companies and the prices per day are very good. However, most of the highways have paid tolls.
Another advantage is that the vehicle can be loaded on the ferries and there is no problem with moving them between the islands.
We have the service of AutoUnion. The service was excellent and they have the possibility to pick up and return the car at the airport of Athens and in most of the big cities. Also, the vehicles are in very good condition.
RECOMMENDATIONS AND TIPS FOR TRAVELLING TO GREECE
- If you are looking for flights to Greece, a good option may be BestDay.
- Interiorize yourself: Greece is crossed by very complicated and interesting history. Try to get to Georgia knowing something about its geography, culture, political history and current situation. Knowing its history helps to understand the many ruins you see and not just a pile of stones.
- Plan ahead: A trip is better when you plan it, at least a little. We are not in favor of a fully organized trip, with reservations and a defined itinerary. We are in favor of the trip putting itself together, but that doesn't mean that one doesn't plan, at least a little. Look at a map, what places you would like to know, why, check if you have left on the way, make a possible route. Take into account your budget, your tastes and your desires.
- Leave prejudices at home, seriously. Try not to keep the obvious to yourself.
- Greece is a safe country; insecurity and theft are almost non-existent. They don't exist, partly because the police are always and at all times around. Also, be careful to take certain precautions.
SHOULD I TRAVEL WITH HEALTH INSURANCE?
You never know if you'll need it, so we might as well get one. You probably won't use it, but just in case...
What is certain is that as Argentines in the Schengen Zone it is mandatory to enter. We do not know of any case that has been asked, but better to have it and not use it, than to need it and not have it. There are many offers and promotions, 2×1, discounts. We recommend that you check possible quotes and types of coverage.
