reasonable choice when you want to play Dragon Splinter - my reason to play Drake of Arnak summoner in Splinterlands

So I have been on vacation for about a week and am back to my daily crypto grind and the part which is much more fun: Playing Splinterlands!

A new season started and a new week brings a new share-your-battle challenge along. It is again about Dragons. As announced in the past I will try to highlight different Dragon Splinter's units one by one.
This week I will try to highlight a summoner for the first time! More specifically I will have a look on Drake of Arnak.

As before my reports are on Silver league in particular. Here you encounter unleveled bcx1 monsters, for the most part.

So Drake of Arnak: What could make him look good to me?
-First of all: It is a Dragon Splinter Summoner thus he provides you with access to all Dragon Splinter monsters.
-He adds one shield stat to each monster! (Which is probably its main selling point.)
-Costs you 4 mana points to play which is in line with the current standard summoners.

His flaw: He only gives you one additional stat, while the other standard summoners are either cheaper (3 mana for the older ones) or enhance two stats (like Tarsa, Obsidian, Kelya...).

Why could you still use him? Let us look at one of my battles:

I think a lot of the newer Dragon Splinter units are good melee fighters and Drake of Arnak offers some protection with his shield stat bonus. So I was lucky that my opponent went with a Fire Splinter setup in this low mana battle.

Djinn Chwala is a defensive beast and killed 50% of the opponents units before he activated for the first time! ;)
This is where you can see the advantage of Drake of Arnaks shield bonus. My opponent would not have faced this defeat if he had have had shield stat, as well.

After round 1 only it already was apparent who would win.

So what is it that we might have learned today?
The obvious: Dragon Splinter has some nice units and if you want to play them you need a Dragon Summoner.
More than often Dragon summoners are more expensive or offer less for the same mana cost.
However my personal opinion is that Drake of Arnak is a reasonable choice to be able to play Dragon Splinter units. Especially when facing Fire Splinter (as shown above) or Death Splinter setups his +1 shield stat bonus can be quite powerful.

Finally this is my first review of a summoner, I still have much to learn but I hope to improve along the way! ;)

Unfortunately, but as before there was no Legendary Gold Foil card on my horizon, but you are very welcome to support my quest for a Legendary Gold Foil card by using my sign-up link: https://splinterlands.com?ref=jdike
