We have just left the festive season and it is time for a full start into the new year with Splinterlands!
Reminder: There is a proposal in Splinterlands to vote on which is discussed in a quite controversial manner. So make sure to vote and make your voice heard!
This week's share-your-battle challenge is again about the Dragons in general. In the past I started to review all the Dragon Splinter units one by one and will continue here. The next in line for my considerations is the Void Dragon of the current edition Chaos Legion. You might ask why this specific unit? -This is the one I just recently bought. :D
Still as before and just because I cannot afford more, I still focus my considerations on bcx1 units in Silver league. ;)

So my thoughts on Void Dragon which is a Legendary card of Dragon Splinter are...:
first thought (o): Cost of 5 mana seems rathercheap to me for all it offers.
second thought (+): Just like a stat of 7 health, which is good to me.
third thought (+): A high initiative of 5.
fourth thought (+): Void ability which reduces magical damage suffered.
fifth thought (-): Magical attack is always nice, but "only" 1. For 5 mana cost you might have expected more.
sixth thought (o): Flying ability which is always nice to have.

Let's accompany Void Dragon into one of my recent battles here:

Hard facts: Modern Format, 13 Mana Cap, Additional Rules: Target Practice.

My lineup in this battle does focus on Void Dragon and to protect him with some units to cover. My opponent wants to protect his Tenyii Striker which will attack my backline.

As mentioned just before this battle is a bit of a duel of Void Dragon vs. Tenyii Striker. Accordingly it came in handy that Tenyii Striker missed my Void Dragon in Round 1.

Units got hit, but Void Dragon is working its way through the Antoid's health.
However you see that all of my other units are pretty useless at the moment in terms of dealing damage.

In Round 4 it is again a miss by Tenyii Striker which really helps in this battle!
And then you see in Round 5 Void Dragon just finishes the Antoid Platoon.

After the enemy's loss of Antoid Platoon the Tenyii Striker has to cut through my Corpse Fiend, as well. Corpse Fiend however is boosted by Drake of Arnak's shield stat. In consequence Tenyii Striker has two more hits to go before finally reaching Void Dragon again.
And lucky!! this match was a win for me! ;)

In my opinion and in the end this win was a team achievement with the Void Dragon as damage dealer!
All in all I still think its one magic attack is a bit low. However its high health and high initiative are both very nice and in combination even sweeter!
In a way you might view Void Dragon as a cheap version of "Djinn Oshannus" for Dragon Splinter. In this regard I am sure it will find its way into several of my future lineups!
