What a week in Splinterlands! All in all I think it is fair enough to say that there are currently some dark clouds looming over the Splinterverse. -Hope they will soon give way to bright sunshine! ;)
But to be honest I fear it will be a while until the ecosystem will have included all the ongoing changes.
Still (like any week) it is a good time for me to look at one of the units in the Splinterverse and share one of my battles with you!
This week the topic is again a bit wider like "Dragons".Just as I started in the past I will go through the Dragon Splinter units one by one per post and talk with you about all of them! :D
Still my thoughts are about bcx1, unleveled monsters. -Although I realize that the time for unleveled cards is fading.
-Just calculated it today: The cost for a Level 5 summoner is really, really high! I better hope for some big upvotes! :D

My thoughts on the Naga Assassin's stats:
-First thought (+): Cost of 2. It is a cheap unit with ranged attack. Dragon Splinter does not have too many cheap units.
-Second thought (+): Initiative of 5. This one is really fast and therefore dodgy.
-More thoughts (-): There could be more to this unit! It is nice what I have seen so far, but nothing extraordinary.

Let us see Naga Assassin in action in one of my battles:

Facts: 30 mana cap, Modern Format, Rulesets: Armored up
Just do not get jealous when you see all that gold! I rented a lot that day for brawls!

My lineup was a bit of a misguess by me on my opponent's would-be-strategy. I decided to go for an anti-magic strategy with Oshannus und Runemaster being the backbone of my setup.
My opponent went with a repair-and-heal-combo in water splinter.
-This would be an interesting battle, but in no case it would be an easy victory.

Although I lost one of my expendable units the other one survived longer than I thought so Twilight Basilisk could not attack in Round 1. Otherwise nothing really worth mentioning.

Honestly up to Round 5 nothing much happened. The opponent's heal and repair combination kept my damage dealers busy. But starting in Round 5 it became apparent that I might be able to break through the enemy's wall and take the enemy's tanks off the board. Naga Assassin had yet to play a role...

However the battle was not through, my opponent had only units with low health left in Round 6 and this might cause him trouble, soon. Furthermore my Naga Assassin started to get some importance.
Why? -Take a look at the next image.

The opponent's Merdaali Guardian could heal itself equal to the damage dealt by my Runemancer. All the while his ranged unit would deal 2 damage per round to my unit.
But here the Naga Assassin made a difference: After 3 long rounds it had dealt with the Guardian's shield stat and it was only then that I was able to decrease Merdaali's health by 3 and take him off the board.

So I think this is it, my conclusion on the Naga Assassin: Although it has a really high initiative it is somehow limited by his ranged attack of 1. More than often this makes him less important on the battlefield.
But for 2 points it is so cheap, I would consider it a really good "pointfiller" or "joker" unit, because as you have seen above that 1 damage CAN make a difference.
In my battle shown above my Runemancer would have faced an invincible (= ever-healing) wall, despite its high health, if not for my Naga Assasin dealing 1 point of ranged damage.
