Flavor of the Indian Independence Day with celebrations and hearty wishes!
It’s a special day today for all Indians because it’s August 15th! It’s Independent India’s 78th birthday! … So, we celebrate Indian Independence Day and wish everyone – Happy Independence Day. The expected celebration in Independence Day Programs conducted everywhere today is singing of our National Anthem – ‘Jana Gana Mana’ and hoisting of our Indian Tricolor flag!
However, this year, I got myself a memento that’s given joy to all wishing them a ‘Happy Independence Day’.

Last article, I have detailed my experience attending Congress Party’s event – ‘One Vote…Our Right…Our Fight’ event. I won’t delve on that here – but it was a thrilling experience to witness fiery address by India’s Shadow Prime Minister – Rahul Gandhi, where he laid down his Congress Party team’s well-researched findings that showed that election process in India is manipulated to have one BJP Party win.

It was at this exciting Freedom Park event that I got to buy this Indian Flag, my memento for today’s Indian Independence Day.
Meeting my Independence Day Flag at Freedom Park!
While being in the venue was a thrilling experience to witness Rahul Gandhi, and others giving their fiery, bold speeches, there was more here in store for me, because it’s where I found this Indian Flag toy, that spins…
I was leaving the venue at lunch time, with the place buzzing with crowds, security, and street vendors selling snacks – peanut chikki, bhel chat, boiled hot peanuts, pineapple salad, cucumber salad.
Here, I stopped to check out this spinning Indian Flag Toy as its seller played with it – twisting it. Twist it and the petals of the flag spin and become a flower. Twist it again and those petals join up together to become a flag again!
I brought my flag for Indian Independence Day – a toy, a memento, something I would keep safely.

Today, my Independence Day message was just this spinning Indian Flag – It spins making a sound that seemed like the flutter of wings. A flag Bharatanatyam dance – spinning freely like a dancer, turning into a flower but coming together again in Indian Tricolor form
The soul of us Indian Flag Bearers symbolized by this free-spinning Flag!
This flag is my peacock doing its Independence Day spin – with petals spreading out and separating forming a flower, because we are free and diverse.
India’s uniqueness is its diversity – with its citizens so different, having their own varied cultures, belonging to different religious faiths, and speaking different languages…
And yet, like this spinning Indian Flag comes together uniting into flag shape – we diverse Indians come together and unite being a part of India… This Indian bond… is like a friendship band… or at least a circle of unity… It’s Unity in Diversity.

So, I wished my contacts Happy Independence Day by sending them this video shoot of me spinning my Indian Flag. Its colorful petals vibrantly spreading out, spinning like it’s flying with wings and coming back to a smooth flag formation! (:
