Recurring dentist visits of late because mother loses or breaks her dentures

Will a customised thank you card to appreciate the support of one’s dentist matter?. Well, do words spoken from the heart matter, or those words are only to woo lovers?

heart, feelings

Ha… anyway!!

My Mom’s dentist did support my Mom in finding out the multiple reasons for her mouth ulcers. She had borne with my Mom who lost her dentures this time, last time she broke it and recently a while back she removed some vital part of the her lower denture while trying to clean it, which again had to be repaired by her dentist.

From implant, dental care and counselling a difficult patient

My Mom has had a mini implant procedure, where two metal screws were fixed on either side of her lower jaw, so that the lower denture can be fixed there on those implant screws.

Unfortunately, this caused various problems for mother due to various reasons. During all this time, her dental doctor patiently tried to evaluate and resolve the emerging issues.

Most of my Mom’s problems are due to her anxious psychological state and it’s very hard to deal with such a character, to explain how things are to be rationally done, from diet, to dental hygiene and to generally tell mother, everything would be fine in time because new dentures take time to get used to.

Dental work all done ensuring appropriate Covid safety measures for mother

happiness, love

Most importantly, my Mom’s dentist also did all the dental work for my Mom following Covid protocols, because even when Covid cases was high, my Mom did not get Covid although she had dental sessions all through out in the Covid Era, especially when that dangerous delta variant was about spreading last year during April.

Erratic irrational spirited mother who cancelled dentist appointments for no major reason

This is why I decided to make time to write a thankyou card for my Mom’s dentist. She also had to bear the inconvenience of Mom cancelling appointments at the last minute without advanced due notice because mother was in no mood for dentist outings often last year. (Well anyway…)

Thank you card for Mom’s Dentist Akshata

Now this is the thank you card I made for Mom’s dentist who is still a budding dentist as she is a Postgraduate student doing dental practice in a Medical College with low charges under guidance of many senior Dentist doctors, who work as professors in the college.

These are the words -

and rendering your esteemed dentist services,
Taking utmost care as a responsible, honest, hardworking spirited Young dentist doctor.

Thank You

Thank You Card flavored with some chocolates

gifts, cards, writing, creativity, chocolates

Seeing the bland plain envelope the recipient of this cover, felt there must be the patients teeth x-ray in it, she was far from what was in the brown envelope.

I presented this Thank you card to dentist Akshata along with some assorted chocolates that was of various flavours - strawberry, dates, casunates, butterscotch, almond, coffee etc.

I had to wait 1 and a half hours because doctor Akshata was busy fixing and adjusting new dentures for mother, testing if it’s ok or needs further trimming since sharp edges will give patients ulcers etc.

This is the physical form of the thank you card, notice there is no grey colour, print out of that virtual thank you card came without any grey background.

She did not expect this and asked what’s in the brown envelope, “an x ray?”, then she pulled out the thank you card from the envelope and said out rightly that there was no need for all this, as she was doing only her duty. Yet, she had to accept my tokens of appreciation which she kept on the table.

Doctor Akshata's response to my Thankyou card

Later this is what she messaged me back in wats up -

message, communication, greetings

So I guess, this means that ‘a customised thank you card to appreciate the support of one’s dentist does matter’ and that words from the heart of genuine praise also matter.

Almost fell for the stereotype that dentists would not touch chocolates

I did have second thoughts on the logic of presenting chocolates to a dentist but then these were good quality chocolates not those cheap over sugary and flavourless chocolates that stick to your teeth and why would dentists not like chocolates?

This reminded of Willy Wonka movie, ”Charlie’s Chocolate Factory”, where Willy Wonka’s Dad who is a dentist did not allow him to eat chocolates, because of which little Willy runs away from his home and establishes Charlie’s Chocolate Factory. The chocolate factory that makes the best and most delightful chocolates in the world. Yummy …

Anyway… I digress, back to reality.

My thank you card was very simple, with the only element of decoration being the word thank you. The card was designed using canva.

Thank you for reading!! Cheers.
