This is not some definitive review like I do with crypto games, just some first impressions of it that I have had from lurking for a bit, just seeing what's what, getting a feel for how it works, and what value it may have to me.

Admittedly I am not really watching the original categories like the crypto stuff which has an established following and authorship - I am watching the creative categories like art, photography, and a few others - all new categories that only opened up recently.

And I have to say, I am not impressed.

So much content is being incorrectly posted in the wrong categories. Photos in Beauty, drawings in Photos, etc. etc. And despite saying that people will lose points for doing so, I have only rarely seen it happen.

But even worse is something I particularly noticed in photography - there is an obvious sense of high quality work being ignored while amateurishness is rewarded. People taking shit selfies or out of focus pictures of flowers are getting upvoted to hell, while the few individuals I saw with some real talent are getting next-to-nothing.

The whole thing just feels like some kind of bad high-school popularity contest.

Admittedly there were similar problems here on Publish0x with the sheer amount of low quality content that was being put out. But there was a hope of weeding out most of the low quality stuff and having the high quality flourish, which, in my opinion, has mostly happened so far. But I don't feel that on Uptrennd - it just feels like shit content is breeding more shit content.

The comments are no better. The people actively trying to improve the content by adding useful comments are being ignored, while those adding inane drivel are being upvoted out the door.

There are only so many times I can handle seeing someone post a bad picture and asking "how's my photo?", and having someone else comment at how beautiful they think it is, when it is pure shit - bad framing, bad light, bad exposure etc.

So, I'm closing that tab. I'll leave it, see if anything improves in a year or so. But for now it is not worth my time.
