My Splinterlands Dragons Battle Challenge! Dragons are just glorified dinosaurs!

By PVM | Mind Puzzle | 26 Feb 2023

Welcome to ... just another Splinterlands Dragons Battle Challenge! Dragons!? They are just glorified dinosaurs! Random flying T-Rex that spits fire, acid or whatever... in a desperate way to compensate coolness with ferocity and oversized scales!

You may think I don't like dragons, but it's a love-hate relationship. They are cool and powerful, but I can see their strength only at my enemies. I have only one dragons summoner, the Drake of Arnak, and a handful of dragon monsters.

The summoner doesn't impress, as he is a medium-sized Dragon hybrid that can't even fly nor breathe fire. All his life he has trained his skills as a summoner, hoping to win glory through battle!

My choice of dragons is limited, having less dragons then pairs of socks. The Djinn Chwala and the Desert Dragon are my strongest cards, with the others being rarely used.

Chwala is one of my favorite tanks, with 9 health points, 5 armor and Thorns ability at level one! This beast will gain Enrage and True Strike when upgraded, but my one is only a level two - with only a little improvement in speed.

I wanted to try something different, a lethal combo of dragon wrath. I tired to pair the mighty Djinn Chwala with the Desert Dragon, a legendary sleeping dragon that was disturbed by the Venari. The Desert Dragons where forgotten for millennia, until the dirty rats started dug their tunnels and burrows.

The Venari quickly become the favorite stack for this beasts with savage horns and vicious fangs. The hulking dragons with tattered wings may look slow, but they are quick and deadly.

This 7-mana Legendary beast has 6 health points, 3 armor, 2 speed, 4 melee damage and Trample at level one. Will gain Piercing, Retaliate and even Giant Killer ability when upgraded. Even a small upgrade to level two will make a difference, adding one more melee damage.

Poison and Thornes ... Romeo and Juliette Vibes! Low mana cap, only 14 points, and Noxious Fumes poisoning everyone. Let's share some love like in Shakespeare's story, with deadly roses and toxic stuff.

Drake of Arnak: +1 armor to all friendly monsters

Djinn Chwala: Tank with Roots

Weirding Warrior: Ranged with Shatter

The most effective duo I seen lately, as the Weirding Warrior shattered the armor of the Shieldbearer with a single attack. Djinn Chwala landed a mace blow and then gave some thorns damage as retaliation.

The Shieldbearer got healed, then got poisoned, and more of this is yet to come. The Weirding Warrior died with peace of mind, knowing he accomplished his mission.

Chwala hit again, responded with more Thorns damage and delivered the deadly blow in the third round. "At the end can be only one" whispered the dragon, as he decapitated the Divine Healer with a single movement. See the full battle here!

Beware the tunnels! The sign is covered in ashes and blood, as you can hardly see the inscription. You can distinguish the three words warning as you approach, but it may be too late! "Beware the tunnels!" they said... as you may never find your way out. The Melee Mayhem battle-rule and 30 mana cap made me go for over-powered close combat.

Drake of Arnak: +1 armor to all friendly monsters

Djinn Chwala: Tank with Roots

Desert Dragon: Legendary with Traple

Grund: Melee with Double Strike

Mycelic Morphoid: Melee with Thorns

The first rool for over-powered melee combat is for the monster to hit the target, but both the Desert Dragon and Djinn Chwala missed their attacks on the Serpent of Eld. The decoy Mycelic Morphoid died in glory, dealing some thorns damage to the Deeplurker and the Pelacor Bandit.

The Serpent of Eld wasn't that lucky against Grund, as my hulking reptile delivered two deadly blows. One dinosaur got lucky, the others didn't! Misfortune strikes in combo, with the Desert Dragon and Djinn Chwala missing the blows on the Pelacor Bandit.

Grund came to the rescue, delivering a perfectly balanced double-strike! The Desert Dragon was roaring in rage, biting chunks of flash from the an enemy. The annoying Scavo Hireling keeps repairing the armor, so he has to be taken down ASAP.

I noticed that Double-Strike and Thorns are mixing well, like a lethal cocktail. More dinosaur power as the opponents are struggling to survive! See the full battle here!
